This is the future. I read that you need to cover only 1% of the Saharan desert in solar cells to produce all the electricity the world currently uses. So space is definitely not the limiting factor. Profitability is the main factor, not efficiency alone.

The cost of solar energy and carbon air capture is continually dropping. Also carbon taxes may come some places. So it is only a matter of time before the industry of e-fuels takes off. It is going to make countries with abundant sun and wind into the new "oil nations". Indirectly this industry might make CO2 storage much cheaper also, so the entire global warming thing could be solved once and for all. At that point only local emissions like soot and NOx would matter, but there would be no emissions if running fuel cells on e-methanol.

CO2 output for building a foundation for a regular house? CO2 output for building a ship? CO2 output for producing spare parts other industries use as well? CO2 output for producing food? CO2 output for refining oil? What is your argument? If there is eco-friendly concrete available on the market, companies will buy it, if not then they can't?
