I still don't understand Ingram's three ball. He shoots 39 and 38% on 6 attempts a game his first two years in New Orleans (which are also his two highest years for ts%), has a down year on fewer attempts, and then it just stops being a real part of his game and I'm confused, why doesn't he take them like he used to?
@Waxedupwill
@Waxedupwill Ай бұрын
He pisses me off so badly. Ppl said oh he shouldn’t have been traded out of LA. Yeah he should’ve. I think he just doesn’t like to shoot 3s.

The interesting thing is that if you read Zach Lowe's piece on BI (it came out early in BI's stint with NO), the front office and coaching staff (some members have been there all throughout the Zion era) were saying that if BI accepts being Pippen to Zion's MJ, then he'll flourish and they've been trying to get him to be that. I've seen tweets from beat reporters over the years that suggest that they were still trying to convince him to be that. So it's safe to say that the lack of 3s is him not accepting the Pippen (aka 2nd option) role. It makes sense if you think about it. The dip in 3s occurred when BI and CJ led the team to the playoffs and BI went off against the Suns. The year after, BI dragged the team to the play-in when Zion went down. Why should he accept a lesser role when he was the primary reason for the team making to the postseason in two of the last three years? (Not saying I agree with the reasoning though. Just putting it out there)
@Waxedupwill
@Waxedupwill Ай бұрын
@@francisayala9310 yeah I totally get it. But I say he act like Pippen bc he gets injured & Zion is much younger now.
@pierceliu9914
@pierceliu9914 Ай бұрын
I think it’s because his 3pt attempts are mostly c&s he always lacks the arsenal to take isolation three. So a big reason why his attempts dipped is because he got guards to create for him the first two years and now Zion is the only other guy who can playmake
@pierceliu9914
@pierceliu9914 Ай бұрын
@@francisayala9310if he is really this selfish, he wouldn’t be sacrificing himself like he did only taking 10 shots a game later part in the season and getting role-player’s touches. Zion in the other hand, when the coaching staff was trying to put the ball on Brandon’s hands more earlier in the season, he just sulked, jogged around, passed up shots, sulked, and made sure he showed everyone that he didn’t even wanna be there. Now who doesn’t wanna be a Pippen? Like you can have a valid argument that Zion is a better player, but that doesn’t mean that you can just do nothing for the franchise for three years and then just come back and be sulky about your costar getting a bigger role when he’s the top contributor who brought the Pels back to playoff contention, when he just came off of the best stretch in his career and looking like he’s entering the top 20 tier. You can talk about the fit with Zion is not there. You can talk about his desire to hunt for midrange shots. But you wanna say he’s a selfish player? Anyone who watches Brandon regularly would kno he’s one of the most unselfish players in the league.

The 2025 draft is considered to be the most deep with talent in a long, long time. The Jazz 100% need to tank & keep their pick. I'm with you on Kessler, he's only 23 years old going into his 3rd season this year. I get his contract will be larger than a rookie contract, but because of his limitations I don't see it being a crazy one. He fits their timeline. Lauri is at the all time peak of his worth. Ainge got him as basically a throw-in for a ton of draft capital in trading Gobert & Mitchell. Why not get a talented young player and more draft capital so you can tank and keep your top 10 pick as well? If you successfully tank, you basically get Kuminga and/or Podziemski, 2 or 3 unprotected firsts from the Warriors, and then your top 10 pick in a deep draft.

@greyklopstock7155
@greyklopstock7155 Ай бұрын
I'd 1000% agree. Also, the latest news on the Markannen front is the Jazz want Podzemski more than Kuminga. Like, to the point where, as a long time NBA reporter put it, a trade would be a "non starter" if Podzemski wasn't included, and the Jazz wouldn't likely push on a trade if Kuminga was the centerpiece and not Podz. To me, the Jazz have to realize they don't have ANYBODY who is going to elevate enough to be competitive with Lauri on their roster right now. And they need to go get someone in this draft to fit their timeline. It just doesn't make sense for them to keep Markannen around and trying to compete

@@carlsagan2607 the thing is, though, you can't expect to compete without having someone who can consistently get you 25-30 a game, if not two people. Utah doesn't have anyone on their roster right now who looks like they're going to reach that level on a competitive team. And the thing is, you only gotta get it right once. You pick the right guy, and all of a sudden everything becomes a whole lot easier. The Kings had no direction and then fell into Fox, and they found an identity. The magic had no direction and then they got Paolo. There's levels to these players, but getting an identity is the most important first step. And you can't have an identity as a team without having that player that dictates it. Utah doesn't really have a direction. They don't have the guy who will give them a style they can build around

@BOnYTB
@BOnYTB Ай бұрын
You’re right GSW can only move two unprotected 1sts, but they can move that 2030 1st protected 21-30 which still gives the team getting it all the upside you want for a pick like that. You’re not trading for that pick for the value of it landing in the 20s. A distant GSW pick is valuable because you’re betting against them being good when Steph (36y 4mo) and Draymond (34y 4mo) are both likely done playing for the 27-28 and beyond seasons (Dray’s last year under contract is 26-27, Steph could be done before that who knows) where you’d get the ‘28 and ‘30 1sts, ‘29 swap, etc. Cliffnotes at the bottom, or even just this lol. I leave too long of comments when I’m bored. It’s kinda like LAL’s 1sts in ‘29/‘31, to a lesser extent the ‘27 one they owe to UTA (T4 protected, but still solid) it’s all about the massive upside those picks would have especially unprotected. I’d rather have an unprotected GSW ‘28 1st than both an NYK 1st in ‘25 and a BOS 1st in ‘26 for example. Anything can happen, but it’s insanely unlikely either of those picks end up in the lotto or probably even close. If you’re a team like UTA who has a lot of picks already, you want ones that are most likely to be premium. You don’t need more in the 20s. This is an extreme example given the amount of picks and talent they have, but you see OKC trading away lower upside picks (like worst of OKC/HOU/LAC) even for a SWAP that might go unused if the pick is almost certain to be in the 20s. They’d rather have a 25% chance of that swap being a golden ticket, and 75% chance of getting zero, rather than get a pick that’s 100% to convey but is 99%+ to be in the 20s. UTA has young guys, they have numerous picks from multiple teams. They’re looking for superstar swings, or assets that could be traded for that superstar. Sorry for the long reply. Cliff notes are basically GSW can trade ‘26/‘28 unprotected 1sts (or ‘25/‘27, but then they couldn’t move ‘30), a ‘30 1st protected 21-30, and swaps in most other years with the most valuable being the far out ones. That ‘30 1st is still super valuable. Would it be a good idea for GSW to move all of those picks and swaps (plus AT LEAST Moody) for Lauri? Who knows.

I see Markkanen as a strict upgrade to Klay. He is more efficient as a scorer, especially adding scoring as well. Defensively he isn't much better, but at least a larger presence and probably a bit quicker. Even in terms of passing, they are both smart players that can make a few plays, but Markkanen is easier to hit with a pass because of his length and he can easily pass over guys. Nothing but upside here. Moving into the Ingram situation: I'm not even sure there is a situation. The trade rumors are probably way more substantial with people in the NBA space want to speculate for him than the Pelican's themselves, possibly including Ingram himself too. So far he has been happy in NO, he has another year left and there is absolutely no reason to try and get rid of him now unless they have a perfect trade for him. There is still enough time until the trade deadline if there has to be a trade, but I'd be much more inclined to trade him when he's high value, rather than trading him low, which he now is a little bit. If anything, Ingram has worked on his game consistantly and has improved nrealy every season in one of his weaker aspects. Last season was his best defensive season, he played as a help defense, backline rotation defender and as long as he doesn't have to defend in space against very quick players, he is actually really good. I don't get the move of adding Dejounté Murray. He is a good player, but giving up 4 good to great defensive players in the offseason seems like a bit much and so far he is the main addition. I am moderately worried if they can still keep their defensive intensity which made them so amazing last year.

The Knicks should try to acquire Walker Kessler as a Isaiah Hartenstein replacement. Kessler would be good insurance for Mitchell Robinson injuries.

They tried trading 2 firsts for him, Jazz declined. Wasn’t enough for Ainge.

@@a.e01 Wasn't aware of this package. More than two firsts for Kessler is unreasonable but maybe Ainge will get a better deal.

Yeah, I think this last bit of trade talk is just teams wishing. If the Jazz or Pels get blown away, they might make a trade, but nobody is that desperate right now.

The problem with BI is he doesn't have great chemistry with zion. At this point pels will have to trade either one of them and make trey muprhy a starter

@BoolatGuzairov
@BoolatGuzairov Ай бұрын
@@EnterTainment-vv1qs Randle is very questionable fit to this squad, someone with less self-creation but w/ better off-ball movement/shooting is required (w/o giving up the size). Plus you need to extend Randle in a year. Jazz would maximize their chances at strong 2025 class - Randle would be worse for the whole ball movement/pace for current roster, but still helps you to sell some tickets.
