I'm waiting for delivery of mine in Pearl Ashes having had an old style AGA for years - the boiling plate was on the right hand side and the simmering on the left....has it swapped round now ? Also am I right in thinking I can't cook quiches straight on the bottom floor of the roasting oven?

Hi Alison, on the AGA eR7 models the boiling plate is on the left and the simmering plate is on the right - if you scroll to the bottom of this page and look through the photos, you will find a handy key to ovens and hotplates > www.agaliving.com/products/catalog/cast-iron-heat-storage-cooker/aga-er7?v=6336 Yes, we would recommend using the floor grid when cooking on the floor of the roasting oven.

Only three ovens....I can’t see any improvement in that as against my old 4 oven natural gas Aga which is always on and ready, no heating up required.

Hi Peter, we're glad you love your traditional AGA cooker. The AGA eR7 is designed for those who would prefer to have more control over their AGA and wish to switch ovens and hotplates on and off independently. This model also allows for the temperature of ovens to be controlled.

agacooking I’ve since seen the ER7150 large models you’ve referred to.....the same size as my old one.....similar functionality...same ovens and even the warming plate on top...now I understand and can see the advantages. The flexibility is great when you don’t want the 24/7 heat in summer but still want to use your Aga as your only cooker. I’ve always used mine all year round and it sure heats the kitchen on a 40 degree summer day. I love the new cleanable door liners, great idea. I note that Aga still has an R5 4 oven Gas version as well so my old one can still be replaced by the same again if I wanted which is great as gas is much cheaper to run in some countries.

Speaking as someone who resides in a climate with 45°C summers, the “Always on” nature of classic AGAs has a limited appeal.

How do I make a simple omelet on this? lol

Making an omelette is super easy on an AGA, simply use a pan on the AGA hotplate set to boiling.
