Sometimes you do. There's a chance Leela will make a move that Stockfish would disagree with, and that's probably the most interesting move to look at.

@@Mantafirefly But it isn't a better move just because stockfish thinks so. You can also show the line that stockfish would take (instead of Leela) but I highly doubt that a human can judge the lines as better or worse. The perfect move is probably something different altogether.

It makes sense that Leela would just sac a piece or exchange to simplify into a known winning endgame. It hasnt seen the intricacies of more conplex endgames. In time it will probably learn the more efficient and better endgame tactics.

Idea: Use a different coloured frame for the board in hypothetical positions, those that have never happened on the board, as you phrase it. Like chessbomb colours the hypothetical lines in grey. That would be greatly helpful in order to follow the jumps into and out of hypothetical lines needed to explain what is in the position on the board.

Leela is positionally strong. She limits mobility of stockfishs pieces almost zugzwang and goes into a long grinding endgame. Stockfish however is a tactical beast even giving exchanges resulting into winning endgames Such a pleasure to be watching both

The end games by Leela are more interesting than any other engine. Most engine games are rather dry and boring too slow and no progress sometimes. But since Alphazero and LC0 it's been so interesting to see them often crush classic engines and occasionally have a weakness that sees them defeated
