I agree, one hundred %, on your post trip summary, one of the best things about riding a bike, the chance to escape into ones own mind, resetting the internal clock, thinking things through that may have been troubling you subconsciously, putting the world too right and zeroing out on the tensions of life. It a supreme therapy cars drivers can’t appreciate. Hats off to Shadetree, keep on keeping on.

Hey there Josh, I'm a honda design engineer. For gas, check the owners manual, it suggests 91 or higher. Pinging isn't super common in those bikes, using 87 is unlikely to damage your engine, but if you have access to 91 I'd use it.

Every summer I take two weeks and straight travel to places I have never been to on my Yammie Vstar 950. I pack up soft bags, make a flexible plan to end in a particular place but decide to stop when I want along the way. My longest trip has been down to Florida and I live in Pennsylvania. I took the Blue Ridge Parkway down and back for most of it. That was a fantastic journey. I will return to Florida again and would love to chat with you the next time I make the trip.

This is why good friends are important, sometimes, you just can't get the lead out, and get up off your buns and do something, or you just need a little extra courage or motivation. There have been plenty of trips I have stressed my way out of and then someone would simply say, "come on man, I'll ride with ya" and boom, easy yes. You can't buy motivation, but you can have friends. With that being said, I dont have any friends around anymore 😒😂

I did the unknown. I’m about 350 miles from where I went in Michigan from Indiana. My bike did good up to 30 minutes from getting home. It acted like it was out of gas but it blew a fuse. I did get home just to have the same thing happen to me the next day coming home from work lol. I made it to my destination and back and to me that’s good

Thanks for sharing your journey. Riding home from grocery store this weekend I got run over by a pizza delivery driver. In the hospital watching this Monday morning with my shattered femur. Appreciate your outlook more than youtube comments section could ever show. Pretty sure my Sportster is totaled and I'm getting a goldwing after some physical therapy has me on 2 legs again. Looking forward to more adventures of shadetree army in the meantime

Gas station probably has octane booster. I had to keep some on me during a trip to sturgis because a good bit of Iowa only had 87. My dad has a newer generation goldwing and runs 87 in it. It knocks one time every startup and is fine afterwards.

Those structures in the distance before you reached Mobile are cranes to load/unload containers off the ships. The tunnel is the Wallace tunnel and it's really cool when it fills up with water 🤘

Have done 3 unknown rides this year. 3797 mile round trip to Daytona Bike Week from Nebraska in March. 1k in a day from Alabama to Nebraska in April. 3200 mile round trip to SC from Nebraska in April. Did the Tail of the Dragon, Moonshiner 28, Cherohala Skyway, & Foothills Parkway on the way back. All were first trips I'd ever done over 1k by myself on a bike (06 Electra Glide Classic) purchased in Nov 2020. Each time the confidence builds more to where no unknown isn't worth trying. Watching your Goldwing adventures makes me wanna buy one just to see if I can too.
