I love the personal crisis I have hearing this song, trying to figure out if it's a metaphorical grave or not bc she is obviously mad the guy didn't show up but also it's like he's dead to her. English class did not prepare me for this.

I don't think it's a metaphorical grave. If it was a metaphorical grave and she was still mad at him, she probably wouldn't be leaving roses on it. The song sets you up to think she's mad at him for not coming home, but then the final verse reveals that he didn't come home because he had died. She's not mad at him for not coming home, she's sad because he can't come home. That said, English was never my strongest subject in school either, so it's possible for either interpretation to be valid.

DuWOD I can somehow relate to the lyrics or parts of them. I once fell in love with a girl and she also fell in love with me (I thought). We met a lot, did so many amazing things together. But at some point she said, _"I'm not ready for a new relationship, I'm sorry."_ and then she blocked every contact to me. I've never had the chance to tell her that I'm sorry if I had misinterpreted her feelings. And I miss the time with her. I miss it so much and it's been almost a year now and I can't do anything. I know she's not dead but to me it feels like she is and I have to handle the situation like if she was :(
