All animals in captivity are given specialised Enrichment. Some facilities are bad and some are good but all AZA-accredited facilities meet extremely strict standards with their animal health and welfare. That's what makes them AZA-accredited. One of the standards is that they must participate in conservation efforts. That's why supporting AZA-accredited facilities is vital.

I'm currently working on my marine biology degree to transfer and work in Japan at either this aquarium in Osaka, or in a few in Tokyo. While I respect everyone's views on certain animals in captivity, I really do believe the people working here have the animals best interest in heart. I've been to this aquarium multiple times and talked to a lot of the people working here. During the dolphin training sessions they really take the time to work with each individual animal, and use positive reinforcement techniques. The tank with the dolphins is also extremely deep and provides ample room. This aquarium really showcases its animals in the best possible light.

All the animals look like they’re being tortured as when you go there they’re either asleep or pacing in a circle along the fence as if they just want out. However all of them are rescues and get be released. For example one of the eagles there is completely missing it’s wing. So it really does become iffy and honestly if I was that eagle I would just want to be put out of my misery rather than locked up in a tiny cage. But that’s just me.

I would like to say that many places have dolphins in captivity because they CANNOT return to the wild. I don't know if that specific aquarium is a rescue aquarium or not. But I would like to say do not attack rescue aquariums and their animal ambassadors if you don't know if they're a rescue or not. Many animals would perish if thrown into the wild or will hurt humans due to their behavior. So I'm not sure if this aquarium is a rescue or not, but a lot people attack rescues without knowing they're rescues and people need! to! remember! That its thanks to these rescues that the animals taken from the bad people and places, can live longer. Do your research and make sure it's a showplace before attacking the vets and trainers that work there. Disclaimer for you in the comments it's not directed at beaver. Its directed at you "THAT ANIMAL IS ABUSED" types. As I stated in the comment I already said that I don't know if it was a rescue or not and that part doesn't matter what matters is that there are dolphin shows and aquariums that run for profits for themselves so they can feed and provide veterinary care to the animals, rehabilitation and release of some. I used no rude language in my comment. My comment is to state DO YOUR REASEARCH before attacking some aquariums. Yes the areas look small in this one but as I already said that I don't know if it's a rescue or not (it probably isn't) but this info is still relevant to you "animals are always abused" types.
@madison_russell045 жыл бұрын
I mean even it's not an rescue, most of these animals werent born in the wild, where its unlikely they would survive. The Penguins btw, it seemed small, but it wasn't too small i would say, just its always better if animals have more space.

Although I can't seem to find the details on the specific cetaceans at the Osaka Aquarium, they have usually been bred in captivity for generations and most dolphin species live just as long or longer than their wild counterparts these days as our knowledge about their care has grown a lot. Whereas the whale sharks are all wild captured and don't do well in captivity at all. They typically only live a couple of years before passing away from a bunch of health issues. So when one dies, they just capture another one from the ocean.
