All animals in captivity are given specialised Enrichment. Some facilities are bad and some are good but all AZA-accredited facilities meet extremely strict standards with their animal health and welfare. That's what makes them AZA-accredited. One of the standards is that they must participate in conservation efforts. That's why supporting AZA-accredited facilities is vital.

Thats actually bullshit cause everyone who visits the aquarium says that but they still support the aquaria by visiting so kind of prententious if you ask me, and none of the creatures there should be in captivity its doesnt matter whether they are intelligent or not

Dolphins aren’t capable to be kept in captivity like great white sharks but all of the other things he had concern about where fine the fish that are in the touch tank don’t stay there all of their life and the penguins he was talking about don’t need as much space and are happier with smaller spaces and the whale shark should have a bigger enclosure but besides that everything is fine

I'm currently working on my marine biology degree to transfer and work in Japan at either this aquarium in Osaka, or in a few in Tokyo. While I respect everyone's views on certain animals in captivity, I really do believe the people working here have the animals best interest in heart. I've been to this aquarium multiple times and talked to a lot of the people working here. During the dolphin training sessions they really take the time to work with each individual animal, and use positive reinforcement techniques. The tank with the dolphins is also extremely deep and provides ample room. This aquarium really showcases its animals in the best possible light.

Istorm Arts I agree. I live in Alaska and the zoo we have is small af. All the animals look like they’re being tortured as when you go there they’re either asleep or pacing in a circle along the fence as if they just want out. However all of them are rescues and get be released. For example one of the eagles there is completely missing it’s wing. So it really does become iffy and honestly if I was that eagle I would just want to be put out of my misery rather than locked up in a tiny cage. But that’s just me.

I recomend the omaha zoo, they have no dolphins or anything of that type of species but they do have a dome for alligators and desert animals and also a jungle building filled with some of the biggest fish youll ever see to hippos and taipars then theres a creepy crawly dome where bees and butterflys are everywhere, then theres an aquarium where they have tons of room for the penguins, then the africa jungle zone where theres lemurs monkey, even an elevator that has glass and goes up a monkey cafe and theres a huge bird outside enclosure then the safari zone from giraffes to elephants, cheetahs lions and even tigers, my only problem is the cat zone and how small the enclosures are and then there are three huge exhibits of bears to a animal farm zone theres a train and a tram even a feeding station for guess to give animals food they have everything

I would like to say that many places have dolphins in captivity because they CANNOT return to the wild. I don't know if that specific aquarium is a rescue aquarium or not. But I would like to say do not attack rescue aquariums and their animal ambassadors if you don't know if they're a rescue or not. Many animals would perish if thrown into the wild or will hurt humans due to their behavior. So I'm not sure if this aquarium is a rescue or not, but a lot people attack rescues without knowing they're rescues and people need! to! remember! That its thanks to these rescues that the animals taken from the bad people and places, can live longer. Do your research and make sure it's a showplace before attacking the vets and trainers that work there. Disclaimer for you in the comments it's not directed at beaver. Its directed at you "THAT ANIMAL IS ABUSED" types. As I stated in the comment I already said that I don't know if it was a rescue or not and that part doesn't matter what matters is that there are dolphin shows and aquariums that run for profits for themselves so they can feed and provide veterinary care to the animals, rehabilitation and release of some. I used no rude language in my comment. My comment is to state DO YOUR REASEARCH before attacking some aquariums. Yes the areas look small in this one but as I already said that I don't know if it's a rescue or not (it probably isn't) but this info is still relevant to you "animals are always abused" types.

I mean even it's not an rescue, most of these animals werent born in the wild, where its unlikely they would survive. The Penguins btw, it seemed small, but it wasn't too small i would say, just its always better if animals have more space.

The Aquarium Of the Pacific has a "touch" pool, only you can't actually touch the sharks/rays but you can buy a small cup of food to feed them and that's only at certain times of the day. I'd also like to add; SAVE THE VAQUITA!!!

Nearly all whale sharks in aquariums are rescued and are later released, but in Japan, I think they're probs farming them

Im glad you touched on it a bit with the dolphins and penguins but id like to say that whale sharks have a terrible liife expectancy in captivity and are almost 99% wild caught. they are exceptionally endangered too. your video was beautiful, and im glad you touch on its beauty alongside its trouble. thank you. Its good to see someone aware and willing to talk about these issues.Great video beaver, love your video!

Although I can't seem to find the details on the specific cetaceans at the Osaka Aquarium, they have usually been bred in captivity for generations and most dolphin species live just as long or longer than their wild counterparts these days as our knowledge about their care has grown a lot. Whereas the whale sharks are all wild captured and don't do well in captivity at all. They typically only live a couple of years before passing away from a bunch of health issues. So when one dies, they just capture another one from the ocean.

you were so happy and hyped about the all the sharks and seals, but the dolphins were sad? a bit hypocritical as for example seals aren't that much dumber than dolphins and are hurt just as much.
