I'm sure Music Producer Norman Conners is in full appreciation of the admiration. On this Classic cut, he is the drummer/producer,while the late,great bassist, Michael Henderson is bringing it with the vocals. RIP Michael, and the members of the Dramatics, doing background vocals.

It’s so funny that you said that this song reminds you of riding in your grandparents car. This song always reminds me of my grandfather taking me home after spending the weekend at my grandparents. Almost every time it would come on, this and “Piano in the dark”.

We were some grown teenagers, taking a night drive, blowing smoke in the air.. when this song came on and we all felt like we knew this song for all our lives!!🤣🤣 My homegirl was so mesmerized! So whenever this song comes on, I think of her and all the fun we had that night, just listening to good old school jams🥰💕
@JohnWilson-po2ukАй бұрын
Actually it’s the legendary The Late Michael Henderson bass player singing the vocals. Norman Conners was a arranger who would write and arrange songs and get different singers to sing them.

Interesting fact. Morman Conners did not sing this song. Michael Henderson the bassist sang it. I never figured out why they say Norman Conners

Norman Connors is the producer of the song. He put out many albums with many different singers singing the songs.

When I was a kid, there were a few songs that made me think of my parents after they divorced. This song reminded me of my father because I was always longing for him to come and get me for a weekend. Another song was connected to my desire for my parents to get back together. I wouldn't say I took it hard, but I definitely was affected by it their divorce.

Yup, this is Michael Hendersons composition AND what the self titled album was noted for! From what I can remember, Connors became somewhat jealous of it, said to Henderson he couldn't sing and the following year, Henderson released his first LP titled "Solid", a phenomenal LP in which he displayed his multifaceted talents and speaking of "SOLID", not ONLY was he an accomplished bassist, he had a SOLID 3 octave voice!

That “…wait…is he saying??…” look…😂. Another classic that will make you ask the same question…Minnie Ripperton - Inside My Love. And since you’re going down the classic R&B road, check Heatwave - Star Of The Story…nothing salacious, just a dope song.
