Try watching lawn cutting (like SBMowing). Very calming. I like to watch Agate Dad cut stones. It’s like Christmas. You never know what’s inside. That will help with your fear of the future.

This is so funny to me because living in Duluth I didn't know it was unusual for there to be agates everywhere. Our house is full of them, we pick them up everywhere we go. I probably find the most agates in the washing machine because the kids are always stuffing their pockets with them. 🤣 I end up throwing a lot of them into the landscaping rocks just to make space for the never-ending stream of new rocks. Glad you enjoyed your hunt, come back any time!

You should do a itinerary for people who likes your content to come find stuff and make good memories. Maybe including a couple hotel reviews on smaller buisness. If I went on vacation to there to see some of the beauty there, I would much rather support smaller buisness. But cant really afford fancy either. Idk if you would offer group events to go looking and enjoy the day. But that would be cool too. You would have to be very careful doing that though. Maybe not a good idea more I think about it. I like Agatedad also. That region is on my bucket list to see one day. Kinda hard to talk my husband into going without a destination in mind.

I live on California's North Coast We've got a State Park (location that most of Jurassic Park II Lost World was filmed) that has a beach known as Agate Beach. It's several miles long and visitors find lots of naturally ocean polished Agates some are small like these and some are much larger. They are STUNNING!!! I've got a Mason Jar full. I love hunting Agate!

Wow, Ariel! Your tumbler runneth over! That place was awesome. The quality and quantity of the agates there was incredible. That's a great day. And the one at 8:00 - the white part could be common opal if it's not just milky quartz. It's hard to tell from the video but we do get opal in the center of a number of agates here in Texas and when we hunt up in Montana every year. So here is the REAL challenge... since quarries classify gravels by size, and all the rocks in that park were relatively the same size, there is a quarry somewhere nearby where the park bought that gravel... and in that quarry are the larger gravels with the larger agates! Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to find that quarry or at least find places where that quarry is selling larger gravel - if they're using it for gravel roads there may be some enormous agates of incredible quality to be found. Also, if you guys ever make the trek to Texas, drop me a line - I'd be happy to introduce you to some good hunting spots where I shoot vids down here.
@denisthemineralist4033

Wait, I just now caught that you said you were at a park in Duluth... that means ALL the quarries have insane agates as do all the gravel roads. So yeah they're everywhere. Have fun!

I'm with you on this one. I live in a mineral rich, rockhounder's haven by the Skagit River and its tributaries in WA. State. The place is amazing but the absolute quickest rockscrounging for agates was in the gravel pile at the local landscape materials supply. Tip: When sleuthing for treasures this way, first go to a locale where such things are known to be found. This is because the gravel was harvested locally, due to transportation costs. Makes sense!, huh?

I just bought my first rock tumbler. It's gonna be here Friday. I am getting a 17lb tumbler cause I wanna tumble bigger rocks. Also I thought I'd experiment and cut some rocks on a tile saw first with unusual geometric shapes with sharp edges then tumble them to see what happens. I live in Arizona and I have lots of jasper and stuff that looks like arrowhead material. And some rocks that are the texture of jasper but solid black. Also lots of different granite and quartz of many different colors. It would be cool if I can tumble softball sized rocks.

Hi Ariel, I know this is an older video of yours but after having watched a bunch of videos now I'm just hooked. Your enthusiasm is such an educator and I learn so much from your videos. I'm curious if you've ever checked out Agate Beach in Far Northern California, in Humboldt County? I seem to remember it being a very popular place in the 70's to go agate hunting, as the beach is all pebbles tumbled smooth by the ocean waves.

This was great. I was up by superior briefly (didn't get a lot of time hunting) and maybe found two. I thought I didn't know what I was looking for (I kind of knew). But this was so helpful looking "with you". Thank you. It was encouraging I saw some when you paused to ask if we could spot them. Thank you for that short quiz. (And like most people here, I think your enthusiasm is adorable). I started watching some of your rock tumbling vids before this one.

@@AgateAriel That would be an amazing video! If you do I recommend you rockhound in Canterbury or the West Coast depending on what you're looking for 😊

Paint agates also have more pastel like colors, and typically exhibit more oranges, pinks, blues, dark red to brown, and whites. Also wanted to mention that one with the thick white line going through the center looked sunbleached. Sunbleached agates will typically have an area that is all white, and or colors will be muted.

I also was going to ask if you had or have found agates with amethyst? I have personally found a good handful. Also, a lot of those tiny ones will make great fill for the tumbler, plus they polish really nice.
