This series is totally unintelligible to children. It's probably the only murder mystery show like that. I'm pretty sure that's by design. The only adult murder mystery show. You're completely right: if you were a child in the 80's, you checked out after this jazz-fugal/Art Deco theme went off.

+Александр Шалаев I love the fact that I find I'm not alone in this. This show fascinates me ever since the first episode I watched and the music is haunting. It always made me feel sort of longing for a life that I could have known only if reincarnation was possible. Also I must say but the British composers have a knack for making amazing descriptive, memorable series themes, Pride and prejudice, The vicar of Dibley, Faulty Towers, to mention just a few.
@hellospiral93359 жыл бұрын
While Sherlock pays much more attention to physical detail, Poirot is much more patient and can solve cases by allowing others to give him facts and then examines them. A crossover would be awesome.
@alfredvalrie55419 жыл бұрын
Sherlock solves cases primarily by empirical evidence with some psychology thrown in while with Poirot it's the opposite. How could there be a crossover? Sherlock would have been very old by the 1930s/40s? Well, Ian McKellan just did old Sherlock, so maybe you're on the right track.

Christopher Gunning's theme music is brilliant. And as for the opening titles/closing credits by Pat Gavin - they were quite stunning. How many hundreds of hours must have gone into their design and production. Totally deserving of the Bafta award for graphics in 1990. Never worked out why in the later years they dropped them. Perhaps because they were 4:3 format and the bean counters weren't prepared to spend the money on something as complex.

A decade ago, I spent almost a year reading all of AG books and by Order and Method.Then came along this show about Poirot. I was skeptic and thought it was unfair for TV business to even insult the Queen of Mysteries. But one look of David Suchet as Poirot sold me out. It was an exact replica which the book always described Hercule. It was ditto. It was 10/10. It was as Poirot himself prefers that is neat and perfect.

A better question is why not do a crossover with the two? Agatha Christie was famous for the "closed circle" style of detective fiction, so how about a story in which both detectives happen to meet in a rural setting and must work together to solve a murder that takes place in the immediate area?
