@Yamezzzz8 ай бұрын
It's not at all rude. This is a short clip 3 hours into a 5 hour speedrun. She's not telling link to stop. She's part of the community, she knows what's going on and wouldn't expect a guy 3 hours into a 5 hour speedrun to break his flow and pause for 10 minutes. The guy in green hair started talking to someone while she was still starting her story and he's the one she asked to stop, he even turned back to her and said sorry. The money was going towards cancer research, so her story was actually pretty relevant and when you're doing something for 5 hours, there's going to be plenty of lulls in conversation and long periods of silence. Having something related to the goal doesn't seem too farfetched to have. It's just very memeable, there's very little context, and people just like having an excuse to shit on others.

@letsdiscussitoversometea8479 I mean, the short answer in this context should be yes...shouldn't it?
@letsdiscussitoversometea84799 ай бұрын
@@daynemajboroda2796 I wouldn't have reckoned so. ☹️ Somebody who I was chatting with about this recently, seemed to believe that they *_should_* have been ignored (or that it was an "inappropriate" time to start talking about her situation). Me personally? I would have been fine with it, as in fact I was when I watched it the first time. I was genuinely interested in listening to her, and thought nothing inappropriate happened. In fact, I thought it was a very suitable occasion to make mention of what was happening with her - seeing that the entire event was being held in order to support such causes. If I hadn't have subsequently read the comments people were leaving about her, I would've thought nothing of it, and would've just carried on with my day. But the response I've seen from some people online - I consider them worse than something I might've trodden in on the pavement. I've had a sincere concern for quite some time now, that this young woman may have been driven to a "place" where her condition was exacerbated by what's been going on on the internet... about *_her_* specifically. Did anyone consider the possibility, that she herself might not have known that it was... ""etiquette"" quote unquote, to not talk about the very thing the event was supposedly advocating for?? Perhaps she might've thought it rude to remain silent, when the room itself was - as she might have seen it - lost for words (which I can understand seems to be a more and more common occurrence these days). Maybe she thought the other people in the room were too shy to talk about their situations, and so she decided to be the one to say something. That she asked Andrew (the runner's given name) to stop, may have been completely innocent, and said in the belief that the cause that the event was campaigning for, was more important than the actual playing of the game itself somehow?? She may have thought that Andrew carrying on playing while she was explaining her situation, was inappropriate - given the context of what was happening in the room. It's also/alternatively possible, that she asked "can you stop?" in an _inquisitive_ manner, instead of either an explicit request, or order to do so - as though she thought he might find it appropriate to stop given that carrying on might make *_him_* appear to be rude before the watching online audience, instead of the other way around. I get it (or at least, get what it might *_appear_* to be). Assuming the absolute worst, is quite a wicked way to be. Anyway, that's how my mind works oftentimes... it's not easy for me to sit and do absolutely *nothing,* which I consider to be rude if things remain silent *too* long and it seems appropriate to say something. I imagine if you were to ask her (in an open, searching manner entirely at her own convenience), an explanation like the one I've just offered would be forthcoming. That's my intuitive guess about this situation.
