Let's see. Her name is "Miyaki Kano" and if it is by the western standard then her surname is "Kano" which means she shares it with the dear founder of Judo. Could Miyaki and Jigoro be related?

Kano is her given name and MIYAKI her family name. Japanese and Korean names start by the family name then the given name. Example: KANO Jigoro (Kano is the family name) LEE Choon-jae (Lee is the family name) In the west it's done the other way around.

I agree Tani Ryoko is the greatest ever, and what if she had be filmed with the video quality of today. But perhaps nowadays japanese fighter know each other very well, science of training has evolved, etc. I think it's exciting nonetheless to see a dominance by a 17 years old. I hope she can be qualified for Paris.
