As a Muslim, I struggle with this issue. I understand the brother has articulated the following: - From an Islamic standpoint, adulthood is the point where an individual becomes morally responsible (understands the Quran, understands right from wrong, etc..) - The above point indicates that an individual attained maturity - It would not be appropriate for an individual who is very old, senile, in debilitating health, etc.. to get married as this would cause harm - At the time of the Prophet (Pbuh), someone who is of the age of Aisha was, more or less, deemed to have satisfied the above qualifications of adulthood These are my follow-up questions (playing devil's advocate with some of these): - What evidence is there that the biology of a 9 year old girl has changed since the time of the Prophet? The risks of A 9-year-old girl getting pregnant is problematic and very well documented as her body has not fully developed. - As Muslims, we are told that our prophet (Pbuh) is the perfect example for all people and for all times. You cannot go wrong if you follow in his footsteps. If there is a 9-year-old girl who knows the Quran, who knows right from wrong, and who satisfies the requirements of adulthood according to Islam, can a man in his 40's marry her (today)? - We know from Science today that there is no way that a 9 year old has the brain to make their own decisions on the matter of marriage. We know that someone of that age simply has not been around long enough to have gained the ability to parse the complexities of morality, even Islamic morality. Scholars spend 10+ years to gain full understanding of what is truly right and wrong in Islam. - A child barely knows how to construct full, coherent sentences by the age of 5. How is it possible for a 9-year-old to gain moral responsibility within 4 years?

1. Bodies have not significantly changed in 1400 years. evidences: a. 500 years before Muhammed Byzantine/Roman doctor Soranus who had worked in Alexandria wrote gynacology and uincluded that in his opinion healthy, strong gilrs could be suitable for conception from 15. Under that age he described that the pelvic floor and birthcanals were not mature enough. b. fiqh is full of examples of ifda (traumatic fistula) resulting from intercourse. Infertility and mortality were known risks at the time of muhammed. c. The worst fistula figures are in Niger and other sub-saharan countries with desert climates. d. This thesis by a Sunni shows that the riske were known in Muhammed;s time. CHILD MARRlAGE IN ISLAMIC LAW, By Aaju. Asbraf Ali, THE INSTITUTE OF ISLAMIC STUDIES MCGILL UNIVERSITY, MONTREAL, CANADA, August, 2000 pp 106-107 “Medical Consequences of Child Marriage Modem Medicine shows that childbirth for females below the age of seventeen and • above forty leads to greater maternal mortality as well as infant mortality ... The closer a woman is to menarche, the greater the risk to both mother and child, as well as to the mother's future child bearing capabilities, for the reproductive system has not completely matured when ovulation begins". …… Another problem seen more often among underprivileged women is that they develop fistulae which is often due to the pelvis not having fully formed. This can be caused by a complicated pregnancy or having intercourse at a very young age.28. This leads the girl or woman to have permanent damage and often she is shunned by her family and community (4). ……... Knowledge of medical complications involved with early marriage cannot be considered "new" findings. Ancient and Medieval Medicine texts indicate that doctors were well aware of the physical harm posed to girls by early marriages and pregnancies. ……..In fact, not only doctors of Medicine but other scholars in Most societies had a clear understanding that intercourse should not take place before the menarche. Hesiod suggested marriage in the fifth year after puberty, or age nineteen, and Plato in the Laws mandated from sixteen to twenty years of age, and in the Republic he gave the age as twenty. Aristotle specifically warned against early childbearing for women as a cause of small and weak infants and difficult and dangerous labor for the mother, and the Spartans avoided it for just those reasons.” So the risk of mortality and fistula was clearly known in Muhammed’s time. e. the neighbours prohibited intercourse with 9 year olds because the risks were known. Laws at the time of Muhammed. Minor Marriage in Early Islamic Law, Carolyn G. Baugh, LEIDEN | BOSTON, 2017 "Middle Persian civil law allowed marriage at age nine, provided that consummation wait until age twelve." “Byzantine law required that a girl attain the age of thirteen before contract-ing a marriage. Whether she would have consented to the marriage or not prior to this age is deemed immaterial as she would have no legally viable consent to give. All parties to a marriage needed to issue consent, including the groom, the bride, and her parents. In cases where a girl consented to intercourse prior to marriage it was assumed that she consented to the marriage itself and the families would then arrange it. However, if that intercourse occurred prior to the age of thirteen, the groom would meet with the law’s most serious punish-ments due to the girl’s assumed legal inability to consent."

btw. ifda in fiqh is easy to find. In some cases ifda can refer to obstetric fistula (from too young pregnancies rather than too young intercourse) but reliance of the traveler specifies compensation for traumatic fistula in O4:13 “ A full indemnity is also paid for injuries which paralyze these members, or for injuring the partitional wall between vagina and rectum so they become one aperture.” This cannot refer to obstetric fistula because the husband is not seen as the guilty party in that. This translator's note in the hidaya is also clear. >Note “62 Ifda, in one of its uses, means the removal of the barrier between the two passages making them one. Usually happens when a very young girl is subjected to sexual intercourse.” How many religions do you know that document traumatic fistula in religious law?

Dear brother/sister, i encourage you to watch FullMetalTheists video on this topic. It is superb. The best argument (for me) is from necessity of marrying young. When you realise the good that comes from marrying young, AT THAT TIME and the harm of not marrying young AT THAT TIME, then the topic will become crystal clear, including why no one would advocate it for todays time. Please reply if it still isn't clear.

@@OriginalAndroidPhone Fullmetaltheists Aisha video is vile crap. The idea that it supposedly was necessary to start impregnating 9 year olds is complete nonsense. The Romans and Persians prohibited intercourse with 9 year olds and procreated fine. The Spartans had raised the marriage age to 20 to reduce the poor health in offspring from very early pregnancies and had seen the babies health increase, but also seen the life-expectancy of women raise by almost ten years to equal that of men. The main cause of moratlity was early pregnancies and imoregnating 9 year olds would just result in a bloodbath., Fullmethatheist lacks integrity and credibiility. Very bad video. Immoral bad advice. Aks a doctor of a viable strategy to low life-expecatncy is to lower marriage age to 9 and they will laugh in your face. Immoral garage crap by disingenuous corrupt immoral garbage is what that video is.

*The point at **32:41** really puts the nail in the coffin with this argument.* The point at 33:26 is good too. If there is harm going on - then Islam says that it shouldn’t be taking place at all. But to then superimpose that conclusion into the prophet’s marriage is wrong.

Btw King Richard’s wife Isabella 6! France were as young as 8yrs. Guru Nanak wife was some 12-14yrs. Christian Canon law stated mere 7yrs. In the 1880s, Delaware's age of consent was as low as 7, while states like Alabama, California, and Florida set it at 10. Russia chose 10, and Scotland was 7 years old up to this point.

Bro deciding a drinking age and comparing it to what is a girl vs a woman is asinine, a 9 year old doesn’t have a body close to an adult body, now countries that legalize 16 maybe even 15 year olds I can see a case for that because most of those countries they have to grow up and become responsible faster plus a 15 or 16 year old can look 18-22 so that’s debatable but still a stretch, but 9??? Nah that’s wild

We don't want to please anyone. It's natural that we also ask about this because the secular & liberal understanding that we get in this world makes us think about it. How does public opinion lead to what is the right age for marriage, how many wives, and how to carry out the pre-marital process? Of course, there are differences in the perspective of society thousands of years ago and life today, which we cannot equate. There was no age limit for marriage thousands of years ago (before Prophet Muhammad). Even a 40-year-old married a three year old child, which was not a problem in the past. The Prophet Muhammad gave an example of the limit of marriage at the age after puberty (baligh), and nowadays, we also provide a higher limit regarding the age of marriage. Of course, we use the consensus that exists in society, so that marriage can provide good benefits with the current conditions of society. For example: 1) the minimum age of marriage is 22 years and over (after completing a bachelor's degree), or 2) minimum age of 16 years for rural residents in Indonesia Some urban communities provide higher standards for marriage, for example, at the age of 35, with the assumption: of getting a permanent job, having a smooth career, or other things. Of course, this creates a new problem with violating some religious rules, such as dating, for various reasons considered suitable, even though it causes problems.

Benefits of marriage of rasulullah salallahualayuwasallam and aisha radiallahuanha Firstly we found out what the correct criteria for marriage is its not about being 18 16 12 all ages used in west rather it is about a women puberty physical mental maturity and readyness to get married regardless the age womenhood is based on puberty and physical mental development not age alone a 12 year old still may not hit puberty yet a 9 year old may have hit puberty and her mentality will be different to the girl who hasnt gone through puberty due to hormones and mental boost along with physical development Before going to the next part response to even some muslim is that she was not 18 19 at marriage infact she couldnt have been anything older then 12 at marriage so those muslim trying to impress the west you need to fix yourself according to three authentic narrations her age was 6 to 9 at engagement 9 to 12 at marriage and 10 to 13 when she moved in with the prophet salallahualayuwasallam she wouldnt have been anything younger or older those are the possiboe ages, in those days age dispute was common, fatima radiallahuanha the daughter of prophet salallahualayuwasallam narrations show she was born 5 years before or 5 years after prophethood both these are unlikely the more agreed possible date of her birth is born on the year of the prophethood or a year after prophethood had started her husband ali radiallahuanhu its said he was 6 9 or 10 when prophethood began so theres a 4 year gap in his age, uthman radiallahuanhu had a 3 year difference for his year of birth you will see for many sahaba their age is slightly disputed but we have a rough idea on how old they couldve been but no doubt she was nothing older then 12 at marriage and 9 minimum Second benefit of her young marriage was she was of a similar or same age as fatima radiallahuanha the daughter of prophet salallahualayuwasallam depending on which narrations you accept, when she moved in with the prophet salallahualayuwasallam he moved fatima in the same house as aisha radiallahuanha where she quickly became friends with her and would remain close to her even after the prophet salallahualayuwasallam death, also she aisha radiallahuanha got the best of examples to follow there was prophet of allah the best of creation and there was the daughter of the prophet who was one of the four perfect women, she aisha radiallahuanha living with these two great people was a great learning experiance for her in every way she saw how their relationship was their manners good behaviour and in fatima radiallahuanha she had a women to look upto for all this Last benefit to mentioned she lived upto her 60s or 70s where she narrated the second most hadith of sahaba and spread knowledge
@abdullahassaffah
@abdullahassaffah Жыл бұрын
We have three authentic narration of how old aisha radiallahuanha may have been number one 6 and 9 hadith then the 7 and 10 hadith and last she was a playfull young girl when verse of surah najm was revealed while that narration does still make the 6 and 7 hadith option possible many scholars said that the age of 3 4 wouldnt be a age a child would remmeber this accurately and her description of playful young girl puts her more in the zone of 5 or 6 when this happened meaning she was 6 to 9 when she got engaged to the prophet salallahualayuwasallam 9 to 12 when she got married to the prophet salallahualayuwasallam and 10 to 13 when she moved into the house of prophet salallahualayuwasallam She couldve been any of those ages mentioned somehting that was known to be common in those days ali radiallahuanhu we have narrations thay say he was 6 when prophethood began and 9 when prophethood began 3 year gap same as aisha radiallahuanha uthman radiallahuanhu his age is also put in a gap of 3 years fatima radiallahuanha has a bigger difference which has some narrations claiming she was born 5 years before prophethood or 5 years after prophethood started both unikely to the more likely correct opinion that she was born in the year of prophet hood or a year after prophethood so she has a age difference of 10 years from the 5 year narration As for dolls as the brother said toys dolls even a 14 year old still plays with them both in todays time and past but we known some children at young age stop playing with toys example fatima. Radiallahuanha was known to be more serios from 6 to 10 in comparison to aisha radiallahuanha hence she wouldnt play with toys or hang iit with friends as she felt she needed to support her father she also sae her father get beaten up sahaba get beaten up hence her mindset was very different to aisha radiallahuanha Bith were of same similar age and their relationship of sisterly friendship identifies their great relatonship and bond

Aisha (RA) was a woman according to the Arab culture of that time.

I would not use these arguments they are bad., the argument that it was the cultural norm of that time is refuted by Surah LUT , in which the sexual perversions became wide spread. Furthermore, people catered to the sexual perversions of their time, today, we are wise to it.. and therefore the argument of presentism is destroyed right there. To call Aisha a woman is laughable and does not deserve a response.

Why do Muslims insist on being pre-occupied with the question of Ayesha's age? Just tell the truth! The Holy Prophet did not marry her until she was near 20 years old. The basis for the six and nine year old ages for Ayesha are based on a bogus hadith. Halaas! Needless controversy resolved.

How are the docile, sleeping 😴 Muslim community not mentioning how this hadith was recently shown to be a fabrication and an insertion to smear the Prophet??? Someone please comment the research link 🔗.
