Just picked up this book yesterday. I love playing as Macedon. I run 2 units of 12 Warriors (phalanxes) and a unit of 8 javelin warriors. Along with a unit of 6 Hearthguard. Its very intimidating and has worked quite well for me

Awesome! Very similar to what Stephen used with his Successors at Acon. I'm sure the Macedon board can run it nicely as well!

the Lambda in the Spartan shields were only adopted in the Peloponesian War, so if you made an earliers army, say for the Persians Wars, you have complete interchangibility betwen them

Ooo, I did not know that. Thanks for sharing!

Great job, I'm happy you liked it. Judt a side note: Alexander's Heir is an Order, not an order/reaction.

Excellent video, thanks. Was hoping to glean a bit of structural info about the various armies to help me in my decisions in buying and painting stuff. For example, the Thracians: what troop types will get the Rhompia/Falx? Only Warriors and Hearthguard, or will Levy be allowed to field a heavy weapon as well? I don't believe any faction in SAGA previously has had heavy weapon levy. That would be something interesting and unique to the Thracians. I have a large amount of mostly naked Thracians wielding two-handed Rhompia that would be great for heavy weapon Levy but I'm hesitating investing the time to paint them if there's a chance they can't be fielded in SAGA: AoAlex.

The book will be out soon!

Now the wait begins. Not for the book, but for the FAQ. I think going for a build is a bit like leading with your chin pre FAQ.
@RodgeRules2 жыл бұрын
That approach may not serve you so well in Saga. The Invasions book has been out for a year already and does not have one.
@lockdowngaming25122 жыл бұрын
@@RodgeRules True, but that is the only 1 and possibly the least factions and variants and lowest interest? I'm not having a go at ST or Saga. It is important they make tweaks and changes. Difficult to know how a list or a board will be "utilised" until it is let loose in the wild. My issue "pre FAQ" is one type of unit might look like a good foundation for a warband (rules + abilities) and then that changes post FAQ and a lot of work sits on the shelf without a game to go to.

@@lockdowngaming2512 Invasions does not have the least amount of factions and I doubt it's got the lowest interest. Also, we're talking about Saga, not 40k, so it's very easy once the board and unit lists are known to get an idea of how to build it. The most important thing to do is to get games in with your board. If an FAQ comes along the change is going to be relatively minor in comparison to the overall feel of the warband that comes from merely getting reps in. I'm certainly glad I didn't wait to play Age of Invasions until after an FAQ and that TOs haven't prevented AoI factions from tournaments. I feel like that would be catering too much to a culture of skew list building and organized play. Most players are relatively casual and even competitive events are casual when compared to their 40k and AoS counterparts. If there is a glaring balance issue it can easily be addressed by personal restraint or an agreement at the game table until such an FAQ is published. And of course, there is the option to adapt and overcome.

Do you have information about what SAGA dice will be required to play Age of Alexander?
@jaytee632362 жыл бұрын
They said in the Hannibal book (I believe) that the Hannibal dice sets will be used in all 3 Antiquities books.

There are minor differences between the equipment of Athenians, Spartans or Thebans. Although the difference is minor enough that I doubt anyone is going to nag about it.
