RUS hunting cabin tip: 8:28 - Look at the hunting cabin at the bottom right with 22 gold/min. Instead of putting that there, you could actually wait for your workers to chop some wood first to create a concave. Notice that if a hunting cabin was placed inside after making that concave at 8:28, you can get a much better surround of trees for your hunting cabin with at least 40 ~ 60+ gold/min.

the downside to the backwards gate is they can send archers up onto your wall or if you have archers up there they can walk up and kill them

I got steamed rolled on the exact same map playing as the RUS against a Chinese player. He stoned walled himself, i went fast castle with prof. Scouts and 1 TC and got pop capped mainly with horse archers and 3-4 mangonels. Got all relics and all sites. Had no vision on what my opponent was actually doing.. He came out at the 23 minute mark with almost 80-100 fire lancers and steam rolled me xD He killed all my army and my landmarks in less than a minute.. haha!

Drongo is a highly skilled commentator, could do this for any pro match easily. On his channel he sprinkles in fun and goofs with his commentating skill. This makes for a fun match no matter how the game unfolds.

@@quartino_ That’s typically what I do when I play Chinese. I think the best strategy against this is to just apply early pressure on the Chinese player. If you can get them to fall behind early, it can be very tough to catch back up. And Chinese players usually don’t start amassing a defense until they reach the Song Dynasty

When it snows, it usually just means that everyone driving on the road suddenly turns into a bigger idiot than they already were, and it usually means you have to go shovel a bunch of it off of your porch/driveway/sidewalk. Some days it can be multiple hours of hard labor that kills your back. But yes, staying inside on snowy days is nice :)

As someone who has lived in Sweden, I can confirm that you do not feel guilty when you stay inside playing games. The wife might even join you haha But I'd say it's mostly because of the darkness, not the snow. In winter you're lucky if you have 3 hours of sunlight a day

I played 8 games yesterday. Won 6. Lost twice. Both losses to China. China is significantly overpowered ATM. Cheap Zuge Nu early for defense. Then F Lancers and Bees late? Very hard to defeat.

Secret to beating China is rushing them from the opening of the game, or out “turtle-ing” them. Mongols or English destroy them. You can build all the Zhuge Nu you want, but if I have 3 Stables and 2 Barracks around an Ovoo as the Mongols in the Dark to early Feudal Age? I WILL outproduce you and run you down. And as far as how the English win into China, Drongo himself has spoken about that

Like, as a dev, how do you look at all of that (4 specialized offensive units?) in ONE CIV and think "that sure helps balance."

Haven't finished the vid yet. But everytime I read / hear drongo talk about NoB and praising them and enthousiastically talking about the post springald patch, I do wonder if he realises it nerved NoB again to nearly pre NoB buff standards. Just by the sheer nature of how they function compared to mangonell. I'm ofcourse reffering to the sitting still while firing. Springald buff made them significantly more vulnerable. Sure there's less springalds by default, but there's also less required as the correct anwser to them being scouted or when the opponent first runs into them. This is also more of a personal thing, but the higher dmg, massively lowering the time to kill, makes the siege standoff so volatile and punishing for either party, that it's a jarring exception to the rest of the AoE4 gameplay and feel as a whole. (This is purely a gut feel and opinion). Kinda makes clockwork status nearly irrelevant too. When things take 1 - 2 hits more worth of hp, which is about 2 seconds worth of time in a multitask situation. Idk, his enthousiasm in both speech and writ, kinda baffles and miffs me, when one of china's unique points and strongpoints gets put on equal or even lesser footing if your opponent doesn't tunnel vision his unit comps. - post vid edit Seems like a lot of: too little too late, units in the wrong place and overcomittement to the specific build order from the Rus

Kind of an RTS noob, so probably a dumb question. BUT, when you emphasize so heavily that the RUS player needs food, berries won't last forever etc, can't he just make farms? Or does food generated from sheep/wildlife and berries collect a lot faster?

They do collect faster, and farm investment early isn't necessarily bad but you typically want to avoid the farms due to the early game usage of wood on other things. 75 wood per farm is a lot when the alternative is just not spending any wood on just collecting berries and other natural resources.

Springalds. Similar range, 3 hits even when they are clocktower and they have to sit still while shooting. You just cant sit and wait until your opponent has 3 - 6 springalds with 4 - 6 NoB's before you start making your own...

Springalds are a siege counter. If they have less range than siege, they would be in a quite bad spot.

I think siege should maybe be reworked in its entirety. I think that if springalds are nerfed enough, other forms of siege will dominate the gameplay in a similarly boring fashion

Do u remember how bad China was before that patch? balance is not easy in the RTS game. In addition, Russ and Mong are much stronger right now. I think nerf across the board is not a good idea, but nerfing the clocktower from +50%hp to +30% seems a good idea for me. Fire lancers may need to nerf? Then, no one will use them for sure.
