I feel like people don't comit enough to water trade, its so much better than land trade and with france you can choose what res they bring, so for example you don't need to buy stone at bad rates when your trade units already bring it

While this is very true, it's also worthwhile mentioning trade ship convoy is a huge investment. Considering you've probably invested heavy enough on battleships to gain water control, trade ships draining remaining wood and gold is dangerous for land defense. So probably commit hard on water trade after scouting opponent is booming mad like Viper this game

The idea was great to say: "ok you are choosing the path of low resistance to boom so Ima water trade and timing push him" however what he did was underwhelming. Late single tc age 3 drop + castle into counter units, pretty easy mode for viper to handle.

@@CjqNslXUcM that's what Viper does best. He plays a defensive style based on reactions in which he minimizes investments into defending early to outmacro his opponents and beat them later in the game with his superior economy.

I played this map once and loved it. Controlling the water is a nice advantage but you have the option to focus land and win if you time things well

Viper decided to go with the Song dynasty to make up for the fact that control of the sea would certainly be French. The fishing boats allow to save on the number of villagers on food and not having them anymore he found a way thanks to the Song dynasty. Divine has invested too much in useless ships since viper didn't play that game. By the time he realized he had been screwed, it was too late. He had already figured this out when he let the knights attack the barracks that kept sending lancers against him .. Great game by viper that proves that there is always a way to beat even whoever is considered favorite or broken

I love how AOE4 is bringing so many new names and I feel AOE4 might, just might overrules the ESport scene for the full AOE community Starkcraft and Mithology Warcraft and who knows which other games.... I hope Microsoft keeps on updating this game to become ESports ready...who knows

Yea, it felt unsatisfying to end there, we've seen crazy swings from hopeless positions in this game before. But that said, I suppose it's not an illogical place to quit. But yea. Wanted to see more for sure haha.

It was commonly agreed among the pros that Chinese has the strongest late game. Once he pumped out the grenadiers it's pretty much over. French can't deal with it so he just tapped out early.

Viper just focused on reaching Imperial Age, and being the Chinese, that is probably the quickest way. Once you are in Imperial and your French opponent is still stuck building inferior units, while you are able to pump out elite units at a faster rate. You just clean the board at that point.

at 13:45 - that is not the max distance you can get to the top trading post. the further you go away from the corner along the bottom of the map the further away the trading post will be. Like a right angled triangle - use the pythagorean theorem. The maximum distance possible would be if he built his market as close to the coast as possible along the bottom of the map. The corner is much safer, though.

I mean Viper face a French player who turtles himself against Chinese while clearly being dominant on water plus tries to contest Chinese in the castle-imperial age, which is not even a bad choice ,but just a least good choice plus instead of flocking Viper base with royal knights, he choose to invest his resources on stone to build up three useless castles against clocktower bombards Viper literally play Chinese as greedy as he can, but it somehow succeeds because French player is satisfied with just destroying 6 fishing boats and one dock.

I think at that point French player was just dead. Maybe he should have just killed all villagers and TCs instead of trying to fight the spearmen but then again the chinese economy was booming to gallactic levels

I think the solution for French navy is make feudal hulks called like crude hulk and cost more resources (reduce cost effectiveness) then upon aging the price reduces. Right now it's just too easy to make a few and have them pay for themselves. All while going eco at home

Just before you posted this video, I actually played China on boulder bay against France. I knew I'd lose the water, but figured that if I wall him in and build defenses on the coast I'd be able to win. I managed to build 5 keeps on the coastline and go to age IV in less than 20 minutes. The french player was a bit slow with his hulks though so I got a lot more out of my fishing ships than I suspected. Then I just continued to boom, built a huge mass of Fire Lancers and sneak dropped them to his base with 4 transports. First I made a small push on land to distract him, so he would not pay attention to water. Fire Lancers managed to snipe his landmarks in a minute.

@@zilliq Depends on the defences they have, but 40 is enough to destroy one in seconds. It just depends on how many you will lose during the rush. I usually go with about 50-70 and split them in two groups.

I was at the corporate meetings for this game...they decided that china would be the one op faction and decided to zoom in the game basically to appease both the chinese market and their heavy tablet/mobile users compared to the us pc users...china is overwhelmingly tab/mobile users while america is mostly pc's...and also they we're afraid the ccp would hinder their sales in china if they didn't make china the dominate faction...they'll never nerf china, if anything they'll buff it... In my heart and mind, I realized the gaming industry at that moment is completely controlled and ran by the ccp and the chinese market now...american players will continue to see this pro-ccp trend in the gaming industry until it is blatantly obvious but by then won't be able to do anything about it...you'll be censored and won't have the free market you used to have where you could create anything...you'll be only able to consume and create pro-ccp content and products... I hate it...the corporate world is communist...secretly trying to find a way out of this but I would instantly be in massive debt and homeless if I left at this moment...I have been saving for 3 years hoping one day I can finally liberate myself from this and hope that the world can figure this out before it is suddenly too late...

Nah not really. Viper was light years ahead of him economy-wise and Divine wasted a ton of resources on those keeps. Viper would have just started sending clocktower siege against him and Divine couldn't have stopped it.

in age 2. you send out one vil. and when a scout comes out. viper quick walls. in age 4 you send out 2 vils. and attack back? because 2 villages with no weapons can beat 1 scout with a weapon. this game has some flaws.
