Maybe lumineth player already know this but the order she did made me think maybe not(and maybe some watcher doesn't) but the enlightener double cast ability is reaction to declaration of spell. This has two effects: a) if enemy unbinds the spell ability cannot be used for next b) if you fail the casting roll you don't use the reaction. You first declare spell, follow declare step including casting rolls. Then you use the double thing, then opponent uses unbind. Now even MORE weird interactions since reactions are done alternating(rather than one does all, then the other) you could run into this sequence. Enlightener declares spell. Does casting roll. Fails. Uses reaction from shrine luminor to reroll. Casts. Then opponent does unbind reaction. Now whether unbind works or fails enlightener can choose to use her own reaction to double cast...

Gotcha. Definitely not sure when it is supposed to be declared so played it the safest way to make sure I wasn’t cheating. Thanks for the clarification!

@@WargamersAC It's after you have declared spell. Which means after following the declare step. Don't think it actually MATTERED here but sometimes it can affect things. And there's some REAL wonky stuff you can end up with reactions...Especially when you have shrine luminor for 2nd reaction. I wouldn't be surprised most players don't even know how rules REALLY work and just go declaring reactions by default :D I only dug up into these today...Do you know you could say declare unit to fight. Then declare to pass on reaction. Then opponent declares all out defence. You now CAN declare you are all out attacking after all! Nuts right? But reactions are alternated and just because you passed as per FAQ you can react after opponent used reaction even if you had already passed on using reaction... I wouldn't be surprised if most players don't realize this and assume attacker has to declare before aod like in aos3 :D I only learned this in last 3 or so hours...

That’s crazy. But I can see how it works that way right now. There is definitely some fine tuning that could be done with the use of reactions. Reminds me of MtG.

Just finished watching this rep. I was really surprised with how much those riverblades did. Like this game just happened to showcase all they can do. Was interesting to see a battle where neither side had calvary as well.

Riverblades are so good if used correctly! Plan on putting another unit in to this list in the place of the wardens. I think they are necessary in LRL if you don’t have hurakan/dawnriders for tactic play.

the -1 to hit is always nasty, trying to deal damage at 5s and 3s is wild.

It’s so good against Troggs, and destruction in general. I’ve played into Troggs with other armies/lists without the -1 hit and I couldn’t keep up with them.

Nice game. Few tips, just from my perspective: I would suggest keep E&E always in range of Bladelords. In this game specifically I feel like they play too cagey. Constant 5+ ward on bladelords is super crucial and solves the spellcasting unpredictability. You can keep Elannia in lead even in combat for 4+ ward as they still fight just fine. AND you can make E&E ethereal as well for some super tankiness. Also I feel l like PoH on priority target sentinels is almost always waste potential, although it helps for sure... But if you can target with PoH some unit with crit mortals instead (especially on those super nasty troll saves), it's almost always better. Oh and wardens get strike first on 4+ when charged, they don't give strike last ;) Anyway, GL on tourneys :-)

Great tips! I definitely did not use E&E properly. My first time running them. And PoH would have definitely been better on bladelords here. Excited to keep testing them out.

I feel like the Caligrave was a bit wasted here as the second spell often used was speed. Could have been summoning your endless spells especially with magical intervention. This way the manifestations could then move during your turn.

Agreed. I should have been more aggressive in getting the manifestations out there sooner and more often.

1:47:58 you cannot attempt to banish a spell more than once. I know he didn’t try but just in case. See Advanced Rules, manifestations, 7.2

Thanks for verifying this, I didn’t think it worked. It’s been a struggle to separate 3.0 from 4.0 with some of these rules changes. We will get there!

You can't redeploy and then shoot, redeploy is a run move and you don't have run and shoot on the sentinels.

You couldn't redeploy and use the shoot ability, as shoot specifies that you can't run. But you CAN redeploy and use covering fire, as the latter does not specify it (or e.g. say 'use the shoot ability now'). If you go to the app, reference, search for redeploy, it's under commands, 4.0 shooting phase commands.

Correct. Redeploy never prohibited covering fire. Covering fire also doesn't get to use any ability(even passive) that apply to shoot abilities. Also can't use alternative shoot abilities like counter charge can use various charge abilities

@@DCleave9895 correct. Companion weapons pretty much cannot be affected in any way by positive modifiers or weapon abilities. Unless specifically called out like the case of AOA. So no pluses to attacks, hits, wounds, rend, or damage.
