Great game, always like to see Goblins sticking it to Chaos, and anyone else if I'm being honest. So reading the FAQ and the Fanatic rules Ash is correct at least that's my interpretation. "If there are several units fighting at the start or the end of the phase, the player whose turn is taking place attacks with all of their units in the order of their choice, and then their opponent does the same." That is the case, the faq even clarifies this further: Q: Some abilities say that a unit or model ‘fights at the start of the combat phase, before the players get to pick any other units to fight in that combat phase’. When this is the case, does ‘before the players get to pick any other units to fight in that combat phase’ mean that they fight after any abilities that occur at the start of the phase have been used? A: No. The unit or model would fight at the start of the phase. The additional words after the comma are simply there to make it clear that this happens at the start of the phase and therefore before any other units fight.

As expected: Ash nitpicky on the millimeter (and things, like the warqueen and the fanatics: skragrott being within 3 inches, so should have fought, etc.) and Owen being totaal okay with that. That is why he is 'the cooler'. Owen is becoming 'my hero'...

Pretty confident that Ash is correct though, so isn't he right to point out the correct rules? (Player who has the turn gets to do all their "stuff" first in each phase. "start of combat" is a sub phase before the combat phase. If there is no time to look stuff like this up, what I like to do is roll that all important 4+ to see who gets to be right :D

I read the 'Whirling death' ability and this seems to go off, like Owen said, before anyone can pick uits to do stuff or fight. That is how I would see this too. But clearly it can be (and is being) interpreted.

@@ehaesen8417 the rule literally starts with "this unit fights at the start of the combat phase".. The player who has the turn has every start of combat phase ability happen before his opponent 🙂 Now that I've read it it seems even more straightforward to me tbh.
