Thing is AoW3 will punish omissions later. Protecting cities not under threat is dangerous. More useful to send armies out to intercept threats to level before threats arrive and clear dungeons faster.

That watcher unit was called a beholder in the previous game.

I know that "Watcher" from Baldurs Gate, where they are called Beholders.

Yeah they are incredibly protective about that name though, so people call them Watchers (like Magicka's "Behold, the Watcher" pet :p) to not get sued.

Beholder is a copyright product of Wizards of the Coast. Thats why every rpg changes their name to "Watcher", "Many Eyes", etc...

While adjacent to an enemy army all you need is one unit that can "move" into the enemy hex in order to initiate combat. Also builders can make roads, allowing for reinforcing much faster between holdings. Cheers.
