I’m honestly disgusted that an advert like this even has to exist. Our pathetic, greedy and disgraceful government need to act NOW. This should not be happening in this day and age. These are the people that fought for our rights that are now being stripped away from us! It’s absolutely abhorrent

Rishi Sunak bragged about taking funds from poor, deprived people and giving it to the rich instead. He's pretty much dancing on graves at this point thanks to the money he's gained through tax cuts.

It so obvious to me that one of the reasons for these scenarios is that the very very wealthy don't pay enough tax and some hardly pay any thanks to tax havens ,shell companies, etc. Unless we can find Humanitarians to govern in the future, things will only get worse. This ad had me misting up. Realising that is happening is awful.

Excellent advert. People need to be aware of why we are in this position. It's not to do with Putin and the pandemic, but it is something that has been coming on for a while now, and the failing sits 100% with governments cutting back on fossil fuel production around the world. This sits squarely on them thru ill-thought-out climate policies and a daft belief that somehow wind and solar can do the job.. This is the root cause of everything we now face.. We all want to look after our world, but the rest of us sponsoring green subsidies and unrealistic targets without understanding the risks of pursuing this agenda is the cause. Governments need to be stumping up the money to get us out of this, as they put us in it..😤 This madness is literally killing us..

Why isn't there a telephone number on this advert? Poor and freezing vulnerable old people aren't able to find the number online!

Through this advert, we hope to raise awareness of the unfortunate challenges facing many older people and to highlight how vital the charity’s services are, so that the public continue to support Age UK. For that reason, we made the decision to focus on directing people to our website where they can support our vital work. We have other campaigns running over the course of the year which are focused on directing older people to our services, such as our Advice Line and Silver Line helpline, and we always ensure that these include the relevant phone number and contact details. Thank you very much for getting in touch, we always welcome your comments.

We need a wristband for this. "Lonely and willing to talk". In an era where 30 year olds in headphones have a meltdown if you even say "hi" cynical reluctance towards face to face discourse is going to suffer. This will come home to roost in the next 30 years and self deletion will be a big industy. Or, we could start being normal!

This is incredibly sad and makes me angry that the elderly have lived their lives and now the energy companies and governments are making so much profit at the detriment of pensioners, the poor and the working class too. We need a revolution, fast.

How does that make sense when its primarily fuel poverty & the resultant cross sector inflation caused by the idiotic green energy polices the faux tOries have adopted on their dogmatic net zero crusade? Polices that lAbour would no doubt double down on. But sure - ignore logic & embrace mindless virtue signalling. See how that works out, just dont complain about the fuel poverty & incremental authoritarianism this agenda demands.

Isnt it weird how the expensive & draconian path to 'net zero' has been ushered in under the false pretence of abundant, reliable & *cheap* green energy? Who could've foreseen the abolition of hydrocarbons would cause spiralling energy costs, with inflationary pressure as a consequence for every sector reliant on affordable energy? Make energy scarce & expensive - make everything else expensive. Its that simple. Anyone who cheered on the utopian 'save the planet' grift can give themselves a pat on the back for their virtuous support. The unintended real world consequences by way of the disproportionate suffering & hardship these policies cause to the poorest & most vulnerable in society is all on you.

That old woman crying that it's too cold could save the money she's spending on a landline by getting rid of it, get a cheap mobile phone for a tenner and an unlimited call and text plan for around a tenner a month and the money she would save would pay for her heating!
@R.S_Howell
@R.S_Howell Жыл бұрын
Things that you may not have considered (humouring you somewhat, as it was fictional.) Maybe the character had a landline because its more reliable in case of an emergency, or she was tech illiterate and had noone to help her. Even so, having a phone contract doesn't mean these days you're paying less for a landline
@B-A-L
@B-A-L Жыл бұрын
@@R.S_Howell You don't even need have to have a mobile phone contract, there are plenty of cheap pay as you go deals out there for less than a tenner a month that even have unlimited calls and texts!

Why is austerity being pushed. All it does is temporarily resolve the problem. Why not a permanent fix like regulating gas prices etc

Yes let’s all lay down and die shall we ? It may not have entered that thick head of yours but some older people don’t know how to work a mobile phone and you think getting rid of landline will pay her extortionate fuel bills ? Wise up do !
