Really loved this vid. Very possibly the best I have seen thus far when it comes to the end result. Did you use a PNG picture for the wood texture? If so was any pre-processing of the picture done? I have the P2 as well and have some very old very distressed wood I was going to use. The downside to what I have is it's very old and distressed and the P2 will most likely just set it ablaze. What settings did you use for the Picture? I pretty much have the engraving part down. Again an awesome video and thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much!! The photo was a JPEG, and I didn't do any editing to it other than bumping up the contrast a little bit, and I changed the grayscale setting on the xtools program. The speed was set at 145 and the power at 40%. Hope that helps and good luck with your project! :)

I am looking for a laser angraver cutter, what was your reasoning for doing this in Xtool, but your other sign project in Creality? What did you prefer?

This design was a little bit too complicated to use with the Lightburn software, but was doable with the xtools software (especially since we had to utilize the interior camera a few times). That's basically the only reason. :)

Air assist can be your friend or your enemy on the whole cutting vs etching and getting all the extra smoke damage. Nice thing is sometimes it can just be washed off, other times it is more stuck in the wood.

In the end we thought it gave a cool western look to the sign, so it ended up working out! Definitely something to adjust in the future though depending on what we are trying to do. :)

You don't need to spend a lot of money and get a CO2 laser to etch wood. You can pick up a diode laser machine for around USD$250, they may be a bit slower and won't cut much but will yield very similar results when etching photos and signs.

@@jamesseltenreich652 I'm a full time carer for my son , he has cerebral palsy and autism, haven't had a day off or a holiday in 25 years, so I know how you feel in that regard. Fortunately our govt. gives me a Carers Allowance here in Australia, so the money is enough to live on and I own my house.
