“Our children & our mokopuna inherit our legacy, the shell shockness & chemicals in their bloodstream. We’ve given them a nasty inheritance.”
For survivors of the 3400 soldiers who served at the Vietnam War, ANZAC day can be bittersweet. Many soldiers were exposed to Agent Orange and their fight is not over to receive proper support.
Cameron Bennett is with veterans from the Forgotten War who are still fighting decades on.

Greetings from Texas. My father was in Vietnam ‘68-‘69. Agent Orange exposure. Had to have a hemicolectomy in his 60’s, and developed the Parkinson’s, with first symptoms at age 69. He’s 79 now. Angers me that Monsanto KNEW how dangerous it was. There was a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast a couple of year ago. Can’t recall the guests name. But, I remember him saying that upwards of 85% of the workers at Monsanto got cancer BEFORE that crap even went to Vietnam. Watching my father’s decline makes me angry at draft dodgers like Dick Cheney. He took 5 draft deferment but had ZERO problems sending other peoples children to get killed and maimed.

My brother was Victor 6. Most of his mates have passed away. He's living in Tauranga and doing seemingly well. Although he rarely talks about Vietnam.

Lost my dad to a very rare cancer of the esophagus. He was highly exposed to dioxin. All of his children and grandchildren are suffering from multiple medical ailments.

They should have never use Agent Orange in Vietnam many have came home and died of that, my late co worker told me he was living with cancer from Agent Orange and he had to keep going to the doctor for check ups, my late brother served in Vietnam from 1966-1968 he was telling me about Agent Orange but he was not exposed to it he died in 1987 from Aids, God bless the families of our fallen soldiers.

My 1st husband did 2 tours ‘67-‘69 in Cambodia, Laos and North Vietnam. He was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s caused by Agent Orange😡 My 2nd husband, Mekong Delta ‘66-‘67, has skin issues and has to have a hip replacement as a result of combat related injury. That war came home with our boys and is killing them😔

My deepest heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with all VETERANS OF VIETNAM AND THERE FAMILIES. " AM DEVISTATED THAT THE AUSTRALIAN 🇦🇺 GOVERNMENT GIVE MONEY TO VIETNAM FOR AGENT ORANGE. YET NEGLECT THE VETERANS AND FAMILIES HERE.".

If NZ has any doubts about intergenerational Agent Orange diseases all they have to do is look at the children in Vietnam. They have been devastated.

You have a problem with the numbers. What nobody mentions is that Maori have a much higher mortality rate than Pakeha (white). and the percentage of Maori in the Infantry exceeded the national average by 20% ergo it seems the veterans have a higher death rate which is not the case. Two points to note.. All defoliation in Phouc Tuy stopped in July 1968 and no it doesn't hang around for more than a few minutes and the UK forces used Agent orange in Malaya right through the 50's. for road side clearance...they (ICI) invented it and gave it to the yanks.

My Uncle and (coincidentally) my best mates father were SAS together they were exposed to Agent Orange both died of Cancer, Organ failure related issues. We were born in 1974 in 2018 my bestie died of Cancer age 44! Leaving a young child behind.. my mate also had a younger sibling whom was born with a faulty chamber and/or hole in the heart..I know in my heart that these tragedies are related! I feel it with every fibre of my being.. it’s left parentless mokopuna and a nagging uncertainty about their future and who and how they will be taken care of especially if they have inherited the same issues 💔It’s so 🤬 unfair! 😢
