In 1985 I was 11 years old and my skate buddy had an Agent Orange skateboard. I was fascinated with the logo and my friends skating. About 2 years later I moved from LA to Bay Area and I bought the Agent Orange cassette tape from Music+. I decided I wanted to play bass after hearing it. I'm 37 now and I toured countless times with tons of bands in that time. That influence is unmeasurable, this band shaped my life, still to this day..

Agent Gizzard and the Orange Wizard. 🙌 p.s. skill is overrated, especially for the punk and garage stuff. It's just about emotion and having fun. It doesn't matter how good you are.

MUSIC CROSSOVER FACT: For those who might not know, this is a cover of the greek song of the 30s-40s (I'm sorry I don't remember) "Miserlou", actually pronunced as "Miseerlú" ("ee" as in "see" and "u" as in "butcher" and with the accent in "ú", the last syllable") of the greek vintage/old fashioned genre of "rembetiko" who was a music for the outcast, derieved to the greek country from the greek speakers of Turkey, who arrived as refuges after a war against their minority while they were born and raised in Turkey and escaped towards Greece in the 20s. The song is about someone being charmed by a gorgeous woman, and contains exclamations in turkish language (greek has lots of turkish elements and vice versa, as their nations lived together in the past in Osman Empire).

Agent Orange was one of the first to marry surf music and punk. In my opinion, the only band that did it successfully. Met Mike Palm in 1983. Nice guy, hard worker and very under rated as an artist.

Mike's a great guitarist, but I really miss Scott on drums, a wildman for sure, but I think he really got this music the best of all of the fine drummers that have served in Agent Orange. Dick Dale inspired so many of us, didn't he?

I was thirteen and my brother made me a killer punk rock mixtape. These were the last songs on side one. Bad Brains 'Sacred Live' was the first song on side 'b'. With a bunch of Exploited, GBH, Dead Kennedy's, Black Flag, Minor Threat and more Bad Brains on either side. Got my first concussion sk8ing to this stuff. Quit skating but didn't quit getting concussions. I should have done it the other way around, but I never do anything right.
