I am 73 years old - born and raised in the USA. I lived with my uncle, in rural (farming community) Florida. In the summer, I did farm labor to make money. Your grandparents home - is very much like my grandparents home. My mom grew up with no running water or electricity. My grandfather (a farmer) would bribe (pay money) to one of his children to be the first person to get up and build a fire in the fireplace - so he could get up to a warm room. They used an outhouse (outside toilet) - very smelly with maggots. When they finally got electricity, it was a big deal - one light bulb, hanging down from the ceiling, in each room. They had 9 children. Electricity was a really big deal to my mom and her sisters - they could finally listen to music on the radio. John M.

I am 16. Both of my grandfathers and grandmothers are alive and so is my great grandmother. One of them live in the city of Szolnok in a classic Khrushchevka and my grandfather and grandmother and my great grandmother live in a village called Szajol. They used to live in a so called Kádár-kocka, a cube shaped house with 3 rooms, a bathroom, a toilet and a living room and a kitchen. It was typical in the 60's, 70's and 80's and it was approximately 80 m2's. These houses by the way got their name after Kádár János, the socialist leader of Hungary who we all love and adore. There was also a garage. We live in a house just like this right now in Szajol too with my parents, my sister and our cat and dog, although we used to live in Szolnok in a Khrushchevka too where there were no animals. Now my grandparents in Szajol live in an unique, not basic design house but one that was built by them by a different and unique plan. There is a so called place where the pigs used to be and a place where the chickens are. There is also a place where the food for the animals was stored. Also there is a place where all these other appliances are stored and a cellar where vegetables, vine, pálinka, vodka and beer is kept. This is called the alsóépület. There is a huge vegetables garden but there is no dog or cat here, thought there used to be. There also used to be a toilet in the garden but not anymore. In the house there is a belépő, a small first room for coats, shoes and the boiler. There is a toilet, a kitchen, a bathroom, a room where my grandparents sleep and a room where my 96 years old great grandmother sleeps. We love her as she had been through a lot including the war and the German occupation. There is also a living large living room. There is a level one, here my father's room used to be and a room where my godmother used to live. There is a toilet, a bathroom and a small central living room between the 2 rooms. There is also a small room where appliances and kompot is kept. Also there is an attic where old stuff, appliances, sausages and other stuff like more kompot or jam is kept. The house in total is approximately 200 m2+, so it is pretty large. This is how we live like in Hungary.

Beautiful old log home. Nice how all the modern amenities were incorporated without loosing its character. Most farm houses in our area didn't have indoor toilets until after WW2 many not until the late 1950"s. Usually bathroom and laundry were put on as an additional attachment or lean to. I love the ornamental wood work on the exterior. Makes American farm houses look very plain and lacking character

Your grandmother reminds me of my own. There were come fruit trees around the house, and a small garden. There were apricots, plums, strawberries and tomatoes, which she cooked down into preserves (jams) and stored them in "mason jars". We also had a walnut tree, and she made delicious "fried walnuts!" She didn't waste anything - I think because they had struggled though the (American) "great depression".

Old shutters, old plumbing, a lot of it is falling apart, but we fix it as it does. At one time it was where the whole family would gather for holidays and we'd have 20-30 people crammed in the house at once! Not for years though. It's been much more quiet. She always had a garden while I was growing up, and I loved always having fresh vegetables every day. Thank you for another great video!

You have a great family and the old house has so much character. Here in Canada old houses are sometimes abandoned, torn down or renovated. We have one that is 71 years old and we're renovating a little bit every time we can afford it. Keep doing the great videos and don't get yourself arrested! Too bad politics and superpowers always get in the way of regular people. For most of us there are no enemies, but we have the wrong "leaders" and they use weapons to get their way. Pretty sad.

I no longer have grandparents from either side of the family, and I miss them every day. I wish so much that I'd appreciated them more when we all lived in the same area, and it brings me immense joy to see you spending time with them in these videos. I hope you and your lovely family continue to live well!

Old log houses always move. You just have to move with it. Those antique carved wood entrances and carpets could be worth a lot. Great garden. Looks like a cozy house. The classic grandparent home. Tell your grandparents we wish them well. Great video!

Only 30% of Russians live in villages, it's still an unusual life in Russia! :) This is how the older generation mostly live, and the younger generation, if they live in a "village", then it looks like something more modern, whole clusters of "IT villages". Unfortunately, most villages are dying, the whole younger generation is leaving. I had two grandmothers and both villages from different regions of Russia are already completely dead, there are literally 0 people there.

Hey Anastasia, I would love for you to talk about more things, but I don't want you going to jail either! It's great to see so much traditional stuff and it is also sad to see it deteriorating year after year. There are plenty of houses in the US, just like this, all build before the 1950s. If you don't upkeep them, they end up looking just like grandma's house (Then it is a tear down and rebuild because it is not safe). But I can see where the family's heart is with their money , not that Grandpa just gave you the big bucks, but used for everyday needs first. I saw that fence in her backyard and wanted to go over there and fix it right up, but that is just me! The House leaning, why that's another ballgame! Outhouse (External bathroom), you can keep the smell to yourself, its all too familiar when I go to events that have port-a-potties (movable out houses)! In the words of the "Poor Pumper Society channel" Nothing better than the smell of a poop smoothie "mmmum, smells like money" (Yuck)! 😂😂😂😂🤑🤑 BTW, I think it is time to teach the family some English so they don't all look like Zombies! 😂😂

Your video has brought.t back so many memories to me. Especially of my grandparents. When I was a child and my grandparents visited they always gave my brother and I a dollar or two. We immediately went to a local store and would buy them a gift with the money. Usually it was a dinner plate or a cup and saucer. I think over the years we bought them an entire set of China. Maybe that was their plan 😂. We loved our grandparents so much we would rather spend the money on them rather than waste it on candy for ourselves. My grandparents had a home outside the city on a river. My brother and I took turns staying with them during the summer. I loved that place. My grandmother taught me to catch fish. We would start in the morning and fish until after dark. I would clean the fish and she would cook an amazing dinner. Sometimes we would catch so many we would sell them at the market. These were the best days of my childhood. Well now they have been gone for years and now I am a grandfather. I hope my grandchildren grow to have the same beautiful memories my grandparents gave me. Thank you for you beautiful video. You have an amazing family

Houses and families like this are very rare in the West these days. A lot of people don't live near their grandparents, or don't spend much time with them, they aren't a big part of our lives anymore. Your grandparents and family live a beautiful life, shows that material wealth and money don't buy happiness or family.

I was at my Belarussian wife's parents in Belarus and it looked almost exactly the same, including the garden and lots of food in the basement. Even the first room was the same with a soft door... they still don't have the indoors toilet though, but they're building one (for now they also got a sanitary one so I didn't have to go outside!) It's not luxurious but it's comfortable and I like it!
