Nice to see some fellow Montanans doing their part to help preserve the fawn (and newborn calf) populations in the state. I appreciate your narration and careful attention to the type of sounds you are using for successful predator hunts in the early spring. I look forward to more of the same as the year progresses.

Enjoyed this. I'm in East Tennessee and the coyotes have pretty much wiped my deer and turkey population out. Just ordered me a Fox Pro to see if I can't do some damage back to the pack. I got 2 pups the other day with my Savage 17 HMR. Good for close quarters and have to watch the 30-06 that I used last year. I was stationed at Fairchild AFB in Spokane and we used to hunt some over in Idaho. Keep up the good job.

What do you do with the carcasses? Just curious.
@OutDoors4062 жыл бұрын
Depends, this time of year their not worth anything. The value of them this time of year is to help out the fawn population which takes a huge toll from coyotes trying to raise pups. Winter when hides are worth money we will take them to the fur buyer.

Thanks for the great video ! Also seen you using headphone with boom mic to stay in touch with each other. What brand are they and have they been working well for you?
@OutDoors4062 жыл бұрын
They work very well. It’s nice when your apart to let each other know if they are one coming in. Yesterday I was over the hill from my brother on the downwind side, he caught a glimpse of one sneaking in and let me know. I never saw it until five minutes later when it popped up. It was almost past me, had I not known that coyote was in the area it would have easily gotten by me and I would have never seen it. I had about five seconds to make the shot. That’s why we like using them. Only have used them 4-5 times but we love them. eartec.com/courtroom-headset/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwqPGUBhDwARIsANNwjV4_8a0XeIKF7C87kXPzWOz9HHgrNaWg_d2pEHOGhDq3Bq1pEefYkLoaAqdaEALw_wcB

Do you actually manage to get more than one at one sitting, or do you pretty much have to move off to a new place each time? And if you move, how far?
@OutDoors4062 жыл бұрын
There are certain times of the year that increase the chance for shooting doubles and triples on the same set. Between January and August is your highest chance for that to happen due to pairing up and being more territorial. Also making your sets as realistic as possible and knowing how to use vocals make a huge difference as well. Also longer time spent on a set will increase your odds as well especially if your in an area you know lots of coyotes hang out or pass through. In our area depending on how hard it is or is not blowing our sets can be as close as a 1/4 mile or more apart. Hope this helps!
