Theory: STAT is actually a technology used by the Gnarpians to confuse their opponents. Soon, it was stolen. The reason (I think) the Two Stud Invasion motif plays or is in is because Stat is (and still is) a menacing creation.

People have pointed out this songs connection to the Two Stud Invasion motif, but another thing between Stat and the Gnarpians to point out is that Gnarpy is one of the few elevator npc’s that Stat seems to tolerate. They both share a general dislike for how everyone on the elevator seems so friendly with each other.

i mean the player character also can survive the following: a dream eater of pure hatred or something (Folly), a flood of death balls (the flood), a fucking wall of fire approaching in a pretty hard parkour, a more powerful wall of fire now CHASING the player while they run in sonic speed, getting run over by cars and only losing like 10 hp, a molten and possibly mutated abomination (Jermbomination), and also, alien lasers. (there are probably more i missed) so yeah, hitting metal doesn't sound that bad to the player.
