Aggressive Vikings vs Hera's Gurjaras

I'm still cheesed that Vikings have such a nice infantry bonus, but the go-to answer is still knights (on a civ without Bloodlines). After all, not like you're going to catch Shrivamsha riders with Pikes, and Longswords would just go down to enemy Xbow. Buff longswords.

Well, xbows are a counter. If you buff lswords so much that they beat their counter then you'd have something broken. Castle age is all about mobility and raiding. So units have to be fast or ranged. Also, food is precious and is needed mostly for vils and eco upgrades. So food heavy units aren't that good. Militia line should have all their upgrade costs halved for starters. Knights need zero upgrades to be useful.

+20% hp for infantry is honestly a terrible bonus, and you have to build a castle and get the unique tech before you have any bonus against cavalry. Then, after all that, you still miss halbs as Vikings. Compare that to Malay with free infantry armor, halbs and militia that cost no gold, Burmese who get halb and +3 attack without having to pay for a unique tech, Armenians who can reserach halb in Castle age , Longsword in Feudal and get 30% hp bonus, Bulgarians with free infantry upgrades, +5 melee armor and cheaper blacksmith techs-- Vikings bonuses are just bad for infantry,

@@Lecuack for 20 years it was fine, but suddenly last year pro players learned how to defend? Remember maybe 3-4 years ago no pro opened scouts and the reason was similar. Today everyone opens scouts even for Britons.

@vincenthughes5795 2 years from now. But yes indeed. Hera did everything faster, fast up was 21to 23 vills, today fast up is 17 vil standar 19. Maa eco is bad and if u do it 23 pop ur enemy has archers by then, if u do it pre 19 pop u have a very bad eco and is ez to be left behind... so 1, 20 years ago there was lag, there was slower game

Suggestion: Militia line upgraded for free for All civs, except final Champion Upgrade. Militia - Men-at-arms - Longsword - Two handed, for free when reaching next age. Seriously think this would be good for the game.
