This is decent performance, interesting to watch and holds promise for its future progress. However it's the very same video as was posted 2 weeks ago with "unlisted due to typo" in the title. Looking so forward to new ones!

How much does Digit costs? Unitree humanoid robots will be sold for $16000 later this year. Can Digit compete at that price?
@Techtalk20304 ай бұрын
Thats what they say, well see if they actually sell it at that price
@synthdream4 ай бұрын
Unitree is subsidized by their countries government, they can take losses for years. It's meant to affect smaller companies like Agility Robotics, because academia will purchase unitree over them thus allowing them to increase market-share and have you buy into their ecosystem due to academia's improvements on their systems. This doesn't mean agility is in trouble, there are many different niches in this market I'm sure they'll be fine for a bit.
@mikhailbulgakov14724 ай бұрын
@@synthdream Agility is a very simple robot doing very simple tasks. Unitree is a more complex robots that will be able to do more complex tasks. I am sure Unitree will be able to do what Agility can do. If they sell at a much lower price, this does not give Unitree much of a future.

@@synthdream And that is - irrelevant. If I can buy it for X, I do not care WHY. Get a reality. Also, Agility has years advantage - and hands that are not even now on par with the grippers of Unitree.

Опа, уже что-то похожее на кисти! Да, пока грубые захваты, но уже прогресс. Теперь нужны "мозги" и, пожалуй, повышенная грузоподъёмность, чтобы не только пустые ящики поднимать.

Why did you make this robot humanoid? Wouldn't it be better to have it on wheels instead of slow-moving inverted legs?

Right, and have its body extend and raise upward like a fork truck. One push or fall and this robot is immobilized.

What can Digit do? Increase the unemployment rate.

And bring UBI

Have you ever spoken to a warehouse worker? There's a reason it's a high turnover rate job. Most dislike the monotonous labor. I'd rather have UBI.
@Mr.N0.0ne4 ай бұрын
@@BManStan1991You mistook my objective fact for an opinion about the pleasantness or unpleasantness of the job. There are over 100 million warehouse workers in the world. Replacing them will increase unemployment. At the same time, AI has already begun to replace artists. AI Admin is on the way too. If you think UBI will solve this, ask yourself this: If 90% of human jobs are replaced by synthetic alternatives, where will the money for UBI come from? Someone needs to earn it before it can be given to the unemployed.
@BManStan19914 ай бұрын
@Mr.N0.0ne apologies, I did not mean to misconstrue your point. Perhaps my original comment was harsh. Let me explain my viewpoint better (while hopefully addressing your points). We are entering the next industrial revolution with AI and robotics. The old work for income model of economy will not suffice in this era. Well, it can in theory, but we would see almost all wealth centralized into a few companies. UBI is a stop gap over the next few decades while we figure out what an economy looks like when 80% of jobs are done by an AI/automated systems. I am by no means suggesting I have figured out what the solution to fix the economy in the coming decades. I wouldn't even have the audacity to tell you I have a solution to fix the current economy. All I'm suggesting is we need to address very quickly what this new economy will look like when more and more traditionally human jobs are being automated. Otherwise most of humanity will be out of work and redundant. In the meantime, UBI (paid for potentially as a tax by the companies who's robots took people's jobs), could buy us some time to sus this out.
@ThomasTomiczek4 ай бұрын
@@Mr.N0.0ne It is called Taxation - grabbing the profits of companies that do not pay workers anymore is the only logical solution. Take a large part of the economic gain and distribute it - that how you finance UBI. How can a simple fact that a 5 year old can understand fail you?

@@tempname8263 Therefore, if you need higher productivity, you hire enough people to work in 3 shifts. And outsourcing work to China or Russia with a much cheaper workforce will cost you less than robots.
