I'm three minutes in and loving it! I've had interest in and strong feeling-connection with certain aspects of ancient Greece for years. I was planning to learn the language for both personal and academic reasons; but wow... I don't know how -- until a couple of days ago -- I missed the fact that this is undeniably one of the most beautiful countries on the planet! I can't stop looking up videos to see it! You look lovely and joyful in the video by the way 🙂Thanks for sharing.

Tiffany, I enjoyed your tour of Andros. It's so nice that you can leave Athens and travel to nearby islands for a short getaway. You do very well adapting to the Greek culture and traditions, hence Easter traditions, epitaphio. It is a beautiful service in the churches when everyone lights a candle and sings. Too bad it was windy, rainy and cool but at least you got to see a new island and felt refreshed. The weather will only get better soon enough. Happy Spring!

It was nice to getaway despite the weather. It was the same in Athens so you might as well be on an island.

Thank you for this latest island travelogue -- never been to Andros, but it looks like it's right up my alley. I commented on a previous video that I was hoping to visit family in Greece this Easter, and tag along with my cousin's family to her husband's family's home in Zakynthos, but alas, I couldn't make it. Hoping to visit maybe late summer/early Fall instead. Looking forward to your upcoming adventures. :)

Tiffany-How would you rate Andros for the availability and adaptability (and reliability) of getting gluten free food? The island I’ve been going to for the past ten years gets an F for fail. I mostly cook for myself there. :)
@agirlandherpassport6 ай бұрын
I didn’t ask for gluten free. I just opted for things without obvious gluten except for the gyro obviously. So I had risotto, pork, lamb and refused the offering of bread. So if you are allergic then you would have to be more careful than me.

As a coeliac who travelled to a few of the Cycladic islands Sept 2024, I didn’t find it too hard. Generally the wait staff understood. I used a translation card which seemed to help, as well as travelling with a guide who could help translate.
@TheGlitterGlobe6 ай бұрын
@@lemonandlime911 I speak enough Greek to communicate this but it seems an unfamiliar concept on my little island and the results are often not safe (or the silverware arrives inside a basket of bread). Mine is a severe allergy and I know almost immediately. I’m shopping for a safer island, lol!

It’s funny how Americans find everything amazing, adorable, etc. Andros is ok, nothing special, and, of course, wannabe Mykonos or Santorini (so that locals can cash more;)…
@agirlandherpassport6 ай бұрын

@mn74866 ай бұрын
Andros is an island that does not care at all to be Mykonos or Santorini. As a matter of fact you could say that the only visitors that are really welcome there are the locals who live elsewhere and return to their island during holidays. Why you may ask? Shipping money. Andros, Chios, Spetses, the three big ones. They frown at your chump change you petty tourist!
@jimjim86456 ай бұрын
Just FYI Andros (mostly) and Tinos (secondly) are the least touristy wannabe islands and that's from the beginning... so they didn't invest in ''touristic infrastructure''... In fact just few years ago these islands were ''we don't want any tourism''... and that's mostly because they thought they could leave on agriculture, livestock, mining, fishing and shipping! Andros is supposed to be the island were (many) greek shipowners are having their houses (vilas)...
@Pete-uo1ei6 ай бұрын
Today a major Greek newspaper had an article about Andros. Most comments are not very positive. Super expensive hotels or rooms, cash under the table, no beaches, no green, etc. Unfortunately, greedy Greek „businessmen „ ask outrageous prices, and that is not only in Andros. The same room in another island that I rent 2019 90€ they asked last year 180€. No thanks, there are other nicer places in the world e.g Italy, Croatia, with more genuine people. You live your myth in Greece…
