Thanks for your vlog. I spent a summer living and working in Agia Marina about 30 or so years ago. That spot on the rocks by the harbour was about 30 seconds walk away from where I lived, and my morning "shower" was to jump into the sea there. This brought back some very happy memories for me.

@RogerHeim so true! I can't drink coke in Canada / US, but in Europe, yes, please! In Europe, Coke is made from cane sugar, but here, corn syrup! 😵

I visit Aegina every time I'm flying into Athens. I love Agia Marina there's a hotel over to the left of the beach that has its open air restaurant on the rocks with a ladder down into the water. I'll find out the name but it's well worth visiting as well as Temple if Aphia

Yay my adopted village! It"s a sleepy seaside village now but this place was happening in the 90s. Back then in July-Aug. you couldn't find a bed if you had not reserved from months in advance. For such a small place, Agia Marina had 2 nightclubs (both closed now) and numerous bars. A couple of those bars are still there. Visited last summer/fall after 20 years. I'm glad you went.

I could see that it used to have lots happening. Many empty buildings in the town now. I enjoyed it though.

Now I am confused, but in a good way…..next spring we plan to take a day trip from Athens to a nearby island…..most likely Aegina (although Hydra , Poros and Agistri are still on the list). But now I have to decide on which port town on Aegina…..do I assume that if we really want beach to rule our day, go to Agia Marina? Or is it almost like Aegina Town but with a large beach and fewer ferries?

Agia Marina is mainly beach. If you want shopping, then you will want the main port.

Thanks for the video. I am planning my island hopping trip for next year, and Aegina is on the list. One unrelated question: Do you recommend purchasing a sim card or going with my carrier's plan? I'll be hopping throughout May 2025. Thanks in advance.

You're welcome! Having a local sim card is usually better as the carrier plans are expensive. Does you phone have esim?

It depends on if you need access to your home number while you are here. I think that buying a sim here is probably cheaper than your carrier's plan but if you need your phone to work then it isn't a good option.

This isn't a private beach. The whole beach is called Agia Marina. I was at a beach club called Ocean Beach Bar.
