Hi, is it possible in Metashape to use the LIDAR as a fixed georeference and drape photographs onto it, or is that better done in other software?
@GEO2004

It is possible, just do that in model view

Hey, thanks for your video! How would i combine a lidar point cloud with textures taken from a camera? Somehow i would have to align both models. But how can i align two models if the data is coming from different sources/sensors (scanner/dslr)?

I have been looking for that too, and so far I found no simple and satisfied workflow

Is it possible to process LiDAR Zenmuse L1 data with agisoft without using Dji Terra?

Not yet at this moment, dji terra is needed for lidar reconstruction from raw acquisition

Hello, in Agisoft Metashape when filtering the ground point where there are dense trees when the ground point filtering is not realistic or it is a terrain hole, in those locations it is possible to add elevation points measured by Can you put RTK or total station into the point cloud model? Thank you so much for sharing.
@GEO2004
@GEO2004 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the the data obtained from TS or RTK must be converted into point clouds format, then the rest is exactly same with what I demonstrate in the video

What if the lidar height is not continuous between blocks? Can it be corrected with this method?

@GEO2004 Hi there. My SfM and LiDAR point clouds were surveyed separately, so my SfM cloud is slightly mis aligned from the LiDAR cloud which has more accurate positioning. How do I shift the cameras / SfM cloud etc. to align with the more accurate LiDAR point cloud? Is there a way to shift all aligned photos by a user set transformation matrix? Thanks.

If you still have the raw data for the Sfm, that would be better if you regenerate the sfm point clouds using the original photos and to adjust the model to match the lidar, you can add gcp/control point (x,y,z coordinates) extracted from the lidar. The number of gcp's will depend on the terrain ruggedness, mountainous terrain probably going to need more points compared to flatter terrain

@@GEO2004 Thank you. I was thinking about this, but I was wondering: If I adjust the SfM model to match the LiDAR, will metashape also shift the camera positions as well? I am wondering because I will be making orthomosaics, so I need the cameras to be similarly shifted. Also, I will be using a DEM created from LiDAR as the surface for the orthomosaics, so if you have any settings advice on that please let me know. Thanks again.

As far as I know, the camera position should not be used (you can uncheck their position in the reference pane) when you are using GCP, unless the camera position are coming from high grade gnss surveys such as RTK or PPK, keep in mind that you still better not use the camera position even they are coming from PPK/RTK if the ground GCP points is coming from detailed static gnss survey in centimeters accuracy because there will be (again) inconsistencies between references coordinates. About lidar for orthomosaics, you can use them, you just need to import the lidar point clouds, build a DEM from it, and use the DEM in the orthomosaics generation tool.

@GEO2004

It is probably due to (1) lack of side and front overlap, (2) the photos quality is bad and not sharp due to many factors (motion blur for example), or (3) too many water objects in the photos
@GEO2004

Either you must repeat the survey or try to process the photos using another software (pix4d, drone2map, webodm, drone deploy, etc) and pray those software can perform better. You can also tweaking the camera parameters, camera orientation settings in agisoft, but you must understand the principles behind those terms if you want to success

@@GEO2004 thanks. I have 1 more Ques. To processing Lidar data in agisoft like this video, you must set overlap 50% in the field, right? I had a mission flight, which have about 60-70% overlap but when i build DEM from the Lidar point cloud like you did, it doesnt work.

@@GEO2004 btw, can you share your Lidar data in this video? Many thanks!!
@GEO2004
@GEO2004 2 жыл бұрын
No, you are mistaken, lidar point clouds is not coming from photo processing, but it is coming from lidar sensor, and the photos is used for RGB information in lidar pointclouds. However the photos can also be used to generate another elevation points clouds using photogrammetric/bundle adjustment in agisoft. So we talks about two different issues here. About the data, I am sorry I can't share it because the data is confidential
