Thanks Chris! This was a terrific project. Can’t wait to make one.

Very nice. A hardwood project, even just a shop item, is always great to watch. I think you're going to find, however, that now you've got a great dispenser for one tape, you'll want to make something to hold all of your tapes. And being who you are, you'll inevitably make a multi-roll dispenser that hangs on a French cleat and can be easily carried to your various work surfaces, then stored back on the wall when you're finished. Adam Savage made something like this a while back, and lots of other makers have done similar projects, so... it's coming. I think your daughter loves hanging out in the shop with you so much, by the time she is about 8 or 9 years old, she'll be making project vids of her own. I keep expecting to see a vid of you making her a workbench of her own and devoting a corner of the shop to her tools. I give it another year at most before we see that one.

I think all of these things you’re correct about. The workbench for her is definitely in the works. Thanks for the time I appreciate it

I am a musician and a wood worker. I recently made a mudroom bench from cabinet grade plywood (SW emerald enamel painted) and red oak bench top (GF gel stain with GF high perf. poly). I used some of the scrap plywood to make a very nice looking cable holder/organizer for my music studio. It has 28 slots that are each 1/4" wide. Routed each slot with my trim router and a custom made jig. Each slot vertically holds about 4 or 5 of my music cables and guitar straps, etc. Came out way better than I thought it would especially with GF arm-r-seal applied to the bare plywood. Can't say enough good things about General Finishes products.

Great project. Everyone needs one of these. Another option for the bottom would be a thin piece of craft foam. I tip for your drum sander. I do segmented turning and flatten the rings on the drum sander, but over time there is glue buildup on the sandpaper. When this happens, I take the belt and soak it in a 50/50 mix of Simple Green and water. Overnight the glue residue softens. I use a soft scrub brush to clean off the glue and the sandpaper is almost like new. Enjoy your channel. 👍

Hey Chris, Great video!! Looks great, but I was surprised the it did not have a french cleat. 😁😎👍

Also I have made tape dispensors that held at one time multiples of various sizes on one holder. I have even had to make one for packing tape because my wife doesnt get along with a tape gun! For your cutter I have used a hack saw blade in place of saber saw blade! worked really good with the multi- roll dispensor! Great video Thanks Craig

I know it's an older video but two addendums. Create an enclosed cavity in the bottom and add sand or bbs. This turns it into a single handed operation while your other hand is holding parts together. Secondly, save the metal cutting strips from kitchen wrap boxes for this very purpose. I know this as "her" office dispenser got dull to the point it would cut scotch tape anymore and I had an aha moment.

to find circle center...true, you could have just done it beforehand, but here's another trick my grandpa taught me years ago. Sometimes the old timers are smarter than we give them credit for: Draw a straight line across the circle anywhere (say the upper 3rd or so). Mark the center of that line. Draw a line from that center mark perpendicular (90 degrees) across the circle. Do the same thing elsewhere on the circle...mark the center and draw a perpendicular line from that. Where the 2 perpendicular lines meet is your circle center.

Your fish tape dispenser sides kind of reminds me of a whale's profile --- worked out pretty well. By the way, one inexpensive (somewhat free), readily available source of serrated metal teeth would be the cutoff strip on packaging for aluminum foil rolls/wax paper rolls/etc. . . might take a little bit of imagineering to affix a strip to a tape dispenser, but, hey, that's the fun part. At least you would have a good length of material with which to experiment. Looking forward to more of your projects.
