Their live performances are so captivating. The way they make the tiniest mistakes hitting certain notes with the string instruments, the way that some of the notes that are sung are so high that they are hard to hit because of the tension of the live performance, it´s all so humanizing and it´s honestly one of the few musical experiences that I can definitely say that I enjoy hearing more played live compared to a perfected studio recording. Thank the gods for that Dark Souls trailer for introducing me to Agnes and the incredible musicians she plays with. You are such an inspiration for anyone who´s aspiring to create music that sounds so personal. Ps. What a twist it was that the chorus on this one didn´t have the pitch shifter effect, as much as I appreciate the weirdness of it, I liked hearing this version so much more as I´d always been curious about how the melody worked out in her original octave!

Earlier in comments someone astutely realised when listening to just audio track you think at some point a male voice is introduced; i think they are playing with what a female or male voice is supposed to sound like; what do we hear?

@@siyessi8455 It's a thought provoking question. I've wondered if it was her but engineered differently in the studio. When she's live, it's what she'd normally sing without being in the studio. (Edit: I read the other comments about how she did this now. 🤷‍♀️) If you like this kind of thing, check out the musician, "Happy Rhodes." She gets compared to Kate Bush a lot. However, l love her vocal range. It's amazingly unique. On SongFacts website: "The chorus sounds like a male voice, but that's actually Obel's voice pitched down and layered to make it sound ghostly - what she calls "secret singing." The processed vocal also goes with the theme of love (especially secret love) taking place in cyberspace much of the time."
