Your videos really are effing flawless. I want you to teach me everything! I'm old, and just the last few years, I've had time to try to learn. I've always been fascinated by history. Your channel is such a lovely find, with your soft clear voice and your diligent and detailed research. Thank you for what you do. It is such a gift, I wish I could explain what it means to me. Just, thank you.

My favorite French official mistress is Marie Angelique de Scorailess my favorite mistress world-wide is Louise de Kerouaile Douchess of Portsmouth (ho herself is French on her father's side)

I'll have to look into the first mistress you mentioned. I've never heard of her before & you now have me curious. Thanks for that!

Really interesting to find out where the tradition of official mistress came from & when it started. Agnes sounds like an interesting character too, tho I'm struggling to imagine a 15thc woman wandering around with her breasts uncovered- & the highest-status woman in the kingdom, no less. Just shows you can't make assumptions!
@pessimisticideas30752 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the whole breasts hanging out thing rather surprised me as well. I think that We tend to think of alot of our ancestors as more stuffy & proper than us, but I suppose that people are people no matter the time period.
@TheRoyalWomen2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I never could have imagined that someone like Agnes actually existed, but all her portraits defy our perceptions of women in the past.

@@pessimisticideas3075 If you read history, most people were definitely not "stuffy and proper." Certain parts of society were, then as now.

Is that a California accent?

It's hard to listen to then, almost every sentence has long accent on the last word...

@@TheRoyalWomen I think your voice is a lovely instrument, and your intonations may give me a vague impression of an accent, but it simply adds to the musicality of it all. I'm truly puzzled by this comment. I suppose it's a very personal thing, but I really dig your voice.
