@jackhume45323 жыл бұрын
I think that ploughing in the snow ❄️ is not such a bad idea as it’s easier and as the commentator said if springtime is wet then better to do it sooner than later and you don’t have to worry about the equipment getting stuck?.

On sand ground it is better to plough the warmth under. Then the seeds will grow better. Snow is cold and it takes a long time when the sun heats the soil.
@puttepossu24883 жыл бұрын
in Finland ploughing in snow is normal. No problems in spring whit snow under soil. Little freeze wheather is best to ploughing.

Thanks for delivering one more well made video with a lot of interesting things for farmers that are not from the Netherlands. I followed your channel for over a years now and you always deliver top class videos with new facts, keep up the good work! Ploughing in snow is something that could happen in Sweden, haven't thought about it being bad or good. We never seed during winter anyway. Cheers from Sweden!

Minnesota, USA. We prefer to fall plow with a dusting of snow like that. We're usually plowing corn stalks, and lots of residue means you may have trouble with plugging the plow. If it has snow on it, it can freeze together, and pull the following residue through. The weight holds it down. Our soil freezes a couple of feet down every winter. No concern about losing a few degrees of soil heat burying a little snow.

If you wanna plow in snow you can BUT in the next year the soil below the layer you plow would compact, i advice to use a subsoiler next year to release the crust that has under the plowing level

I did a lot of ploughing on the farm of my dad in 90’s and 00’s, mostly with Fendt 515 and Lemken Opal 140 with M55-ploughboard, and hydraulic first furrow adjustment. Ploughing in snow is not a big problem, destroying your plough is.... only just a bit of frost in the top soil can make parts of your plough break. Our farm was on heavy clay soil in northern Holland, and I once had a rolling disc of 55 cm diameter snap open to the center like a twig... that’s when you know you went on to long... Btw, if you put the draw line of your plough in the right position your front wheel in the furrow will softly push to the side of the inside. Consequently you don’t have to steer (I only touched my steer on the headlands...), and the furrow will straighten itself. If you craft that you don’t need GPS.... Just saying....

I guess a good dealership network, reliable tractors and good resale value. Also versatile to use for all jobs.

Quality overall for the most, good power to weight ratio, good service from dealers, resale value. Other brands may be cheaper to buy but you notice that differance in every other aspect.

I say size can also matter, say the Fendt 724, it’s a quite small but powerful tractor, compare that to a Massey 7724 and the Massey is a bit bigger... And also take the 942 and compare it to for example a John Deere 8 series or a New Holland T8 or an 8 series Massey or a Case Magnum...
