Having been at many tractor pulls, these things rattle the ground in a 1/8 mile radius. THEY ARE AWESOME

I've been to many truck and tractor pulls and I love them to death. My dad used to pull a 78 Ford. I've never been to and indoor one though. I can only imagine my ears would start bleeding.

I could not even imagine the noise I filmed some outdoor tractor pulls and that was loud enough by the way great job on filming

I want to see one with an engine from a passenger cruise ship or maybe one with 3 or 4 motors from one of those giant dump trucks they use at mines. How about a battle ship engine?

Would it not be better if they had "tractor tires" but big ones ? The one that they have now is almost slick or is it against the rules ?
@hunger9939 жыл бұрын
they run mostlikely very low pressure tires to get a massive contact patch, and spin them very fast. if they were tractor tires they would just digthemselves into a hole. they most likely push them selves with friction between the earth and tires then digging in and getting a grip of course i dont really know, but id love someone who does to enlighten me

@jonas-vdv3 жыл бұрын

@jorgevasquez80467 жыл бұрын
how do they connect all the engines together to get all the power to the ground!!
@kramnull89627 жыл бұрын
Through a "power divider", like a transmission that allows each engine to do it's own amount of work, then transfers it to the log skidder rear end. Meaning that you see many 4 and 5 engine set ups, but one of the engines looks to be burning a piston or dropped a cylinder, that engine doesn't hurt the performance of the other engines, it is still putting out its own work as well as the others. If you would weld the crankshafts of 2 engines front to back and fired them up, pulled a plug wire off of one of the cylinders on either engine, you would affect the running of the other engine. With a power divider, using clutches and such, the power comes in multiple ways, but once converted out to the wheels there is no hurting performance from a engine putting 500hp less. Though these guys could tell they are down 500hp from normal.

i don't get it, the size and the type of tyre never change, they all slipping, what's the point even if you have the Biggest motor of all time ?
@StrokerAce39838 жыл бұрын
what is causing them to slip or to basically run out of steam is the sled that they are pulling. The sled uses a system of gears to move weights up to 65,000lbs. When starting all the weights are over the sled's rear axles to give an effective weight of the sled plus zero. As the tractor travels the course the weights are pushed forward of the sled's axles, pushing the front of the sled into the ground. Synthetically creating a gain in weight until the tractor is no longer able to overcome the force of friction. Most sleds have grouser bars that act like teeth and dig into the soil to stop the sled.

how heavy is the complete sled??I`m sure 5 or 6000hp is enough. I drive a 720hp Scania I`m sure I could pull that all day.
@mynameis-bq8pn8 жыл бұрын
+rebecca cabacang These rigs put out not just HP but also torque to pull the sled and I doubt your drive train could even get it moved a foot.
@lightningfastrc8 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Frazier You're right these sleds usually have a good 4.5 tons of weight on them. 720 hp isn't moving that, especially not on dirt.

Lol, bad thing would be, your gonna need one hell of a wheelie bar, thats alot of power hitting the pavement. The torque alone would backflip it. But yeah, find some way to keep it down, id like to see quarter time on it.
@stephentroyer38317 жыл бұрын

Just throwing a number out.. Anywhere from 150k entry to 1M dollars for the big runners. All motor sports are expensive.. High HP Allison engines like at 3:32 can run into the hundred thousand dollar range easy.
