the great thing about this story is he didn't even get the full brunt of it, had the fight been for real the moment he lost track of her he'd have found a knife in the side of his neck.

Then again. As I understand a paralysis venom? Sprayed? Or in bite? Both had restrictions. Clearly in wild, with only weapons you could grab from ground. Humans would lose one on one +99% of the time.

Nice story. Not the usual superior human. The story simply show that the sergeant is a better combatant....well...shes a sergeant after all. Also, the advantage of ambush predator vs pursuit predator is nicely explored in this story.

Knowing the US military, if this future Human military is anything like it, that Sergeant probably would've gotten into just as much trouble as that Sthiss. They'd likely have both been demoted to the same rank.l, specifically because it was so stupid to fight a Sthiss.

Well in this case it se ms okay. I mean, this was a refed, professional match, both agreed toin a eay that isnt just two people loosing ther cool and fighting. Plus with the new race hotsho thing, it sounds normal.

I can imagine some harsh words for fighting the Sthiss, but the difference here was that it was a mutually consented, reffed match. The Sthiss had also broken the rules of the match by trying to permanently injure the Sargeant, that's why he's getting demoted, not because of the match itself.
