Second story: You have to wonder how many times they got taught the lesson not to fire on our hospital ships before they got the message? Also nice that they understand we war apes are willing to take that many casualties to push them into the void.

I would think distance would still matter. If you have 3 self contained medical shops. You have an enemy that strongly follows rules of not harming medical areas, or transports. You still cannot transfer injured thru heart of battle. Would you not spread the hospital ships over an arc? So Injured could get to one of the ships as quickly as possible? Unless a tactic to force enemy response, encourage surrender…. Why show your intent and lose element of surprise? Unlike ground based MASH. I would expect hospital ships of size indicated could emerge from wormhole ready to accept patients in minutes.
