This guy gets information from people that seems very similar to what a psychic does, yet h doesn't claim to be speaking to the dead or to have some kind of special powers. It makes me think that psychics are basically doing parlor tricks like good magicians do.

Great observation! And I think you are 100 % correct about what psychics are actually doing. Oz is way better than the Long Island Medium's of the world guessing peoples dead relatives medical ailments. And he can actually come up with names. Something "medium's" can't do unless a wild guess hits.

+activedreamer Nah he's not really a mentalist. More of a magician. Firstly I think the Friends and Family card was forced because the first letters are bolded compared to all other categories. Made her brain have more interest in that card and subconsciously pick it. Secondly he's using some kind of heat-erasing pen (i've had one of those before, just hold close to a light or flame), with Jeff's name pre-written with a regular pen. And if Jeff's name was pre-written, he must have done serious homework on Meredith. I doubt he could do this for a non-celebrity. He has done a trick similar to this with Mel B on America's Got Talent.

Getaway OfMyLoan Of course, I'm impressed! This takes a lot of presentation work (misdirection, embellishment) and preparation, and if it isn't staged, a lot of luck to correctly guess those people or else he has to do some backpedaling in order to save the trick. He's also got incredible sleight of hand, search youtube for "Penguin Magic Oz Perlman" and watch some of those incredible tricks.
