Me too. My great-grandmother left the Austrian-Hungarian Empire right before the First World War started, emigrating here to USA. She met her husband, my great-grandfather on the boat ride here. He was Serbian. I was 5 when she passed away, I still remember her speaking Polish to her daughter, my grandmother. Sadly, neither of them taught my mother, so I never got to learn. One day I will visit Poland speaking Polish. I hope I can honor their spirit that way

I find it fascinating how for so many years western countries and westernized Slavs in particular deliberately manage to ignore Russia and Russian language . Rot in Russian means mouth. (also alternative name for mouth is "usta", except "usta" is something that's "coming out of" and has a more sacral meaning like vedat' or ochi . etc Also Rota is the order of soldiers , in fact the word "order" is a variation of that word "Rota". If you want to know more answers to our actual ancestral language you should learn Russian language and it's etymology. But for some reasons westerners keep ignoring it and Russian culture in general for some reason. Big mistake.
