I am glad that Aguilar made an amp in between the DB751 and the Tonehammer 500. The DB751 looked to be just o heavy to carry,and the Tonehammer was a little to small in its looks. All three have the same tonal characteristics,and they are all great!

Love the amps .. wish they would build one with the direct out in the back .. every time u see one people run the direct line in .. then wrap it around the amp to get it out the way … I wonder what the design reason is for it being in the front

The effects loop too. I prefer DI and effects loop inputs on the rear of an amp to keep lines out of the way.

@@restojon1 It does great with my MM Stingray Special HH. I leave all the amps EQ flat and shape ton from the bass. The amp is very transparent with no coloration so the MM is presented faithfully and is quite dynamic with a great low end.

All I want is a rack mounted Aguilar pre with the TLC compressor integrated. Tonehammer or AG I don't care.

I went into my local guitar shop recently and played the AG 700 through Aguilar cabs (light cabs), it is a BEAUTIFUL sounding amp, much better in my opinion than the Tone Hammer and THE best sounding bass amp I ever heard. However, I was using a Fender Jazz bass (4-string, passive) with no pedals plugged into the AG 700 and I noticed it cut-out frequently. All the videos I had seen on KZbin didn’t seem to do that. Any idea why it was cutting out when the gain knob was at 11:00 and every demonstration video I have watched on it is at or higher than 11 but I didn’t notice it cutting out. This is the only thing keeping me from purchasing it. If you know why and how it can be prevented let me know. The only thing I wasn’t aware of was whether I had the active or passive switch on, but I was playing through a passive bass. Thanks!

I have had my AG 700 for about one year with no problems. My guess is that the one that you tried was defective.

The only thing was that it kept cutting out? And you didn’t just ask the shop staff? 🤔

Is the -10db button used sparingly ? If your bass has a battery and active pick ups, should you be engaging that ? I own the amp, but generally leave in "passive" mode for more presence. Someone chime in.
@basstheworldofficial5 жыл бұрын
These only need to be used if the preamp distorts right away. I never need it, no matter which bass I’m using

BassTheWorld.com so you mean... plug in a bass, play a note...and if it distorts, at a reasonable volume, use the button ?

Not even that. Some like it when their preamp overdrives. It’s really a matter of taste

Psyco GamersBR biggest part of that sound is flatwound strings. Roll back the tone, pluck close to the neck, and copy the amp settings they show when he's playing that bass. That should get you close

When I hear a comment like yours,I just think that this is not the amp for you. One must admit that Aguilar is THE BEST amp maker available today. Everything is not for everybody! This demo shows the versatility of this amp in many genres of music. So please,check yourself when you make these types of comments. BTW,what amp would consider better than this amp.
