Nice explanation, as well as great footage. However, I can't believe that neither you nor the Wikipedia article give a pronunciation for us foreigners. If it were in Portuguese, I'd guess ah-GOOL-yahss. But, I don't know what to do with Afrikaans, assuming it is actually an Afrikaans word.
