The amygdala is a part of the brain that stores sad, unpleasant and traumatic memories to protect you from those situations in the future (example: some people have phobia from water or the sea, because they had a very scary experience with it such as drowning. It’s the amygdala that holds on to that experience and makes you scared of the sea)

Amygdala in Latin from Greek, ἀμυγδαλή, amygdalē, 'almond' - that's why you see the other version/amygdala outside of the cycle (in the green, laughing) eating almonds, watching this struggle.

In a way, Amygdala serves to protect u by helping u remember your trauma and phobias so that u would do things to preserve urself. So it’s interesting Gameboyy mentioned how it sounded like yoongi was calling out to amygdala to save him. Because while in reality yoongi was asking for his amygdala to free him from these memories, yoongi also acknowledged in interviews about the song that the amygdala is supposed to protect the individual by holding onto the trauma. it's one of the ironic things in life...

Also gameboyy310 suga explains everything in the making of the video , I would suggest you should always watch the making of the video too , it’s really cool to watch and very helpful . He said in his vlives that he use to get shots in his shoulder when he had to perform on stage and one time he was on stage and he could not raise his arm anymore , and that’s when he discussed it with the members and doctors and said it’s best to have the shoulder surgery , if you watch his vlives he did when he was at home during recovery he let us know how his therapy was going . His recovery took 2 months but he still was not able to participate in a lot of physical activities in the runbts episodes . 💜💜💜

That's not true stop spreading misunderstandings. AMYGDALA is not holding onto your trauma. It is teaching your body how to react during things your brain sees as dangerous. For example if u burn yourself by touching hot pot AMYGDALA sort that memory and then gets ur brain a signal not to touch anything hot therefore learning. Mostly its major center of emotions that links to other thinks such as memory or learning. If its abnormal it can lead to depression or anxiety because of the chemical imbalance.

Yes the car accident was real. His shoulder went under the wheel of the vehicle. He was scared to tell the company at the time because he thought they would have kicked him out of the group. He went a few weeks with a dislocated shoulder. The choreographer noticed that he wasn't able to move properly during dance practice and they pulled him aside and he told them everything, and they paid for his medical expenses. What's crazy is that he told the other members that he fell down the stairs and that was how he injured his shoulder. He told the guys a few years later what really happened and that he was actually hit by a car. Yes, this whole song is autobiographical, his accident, and Mom and Dad's health issues. It's how his "Agust D" persona came to be. The Amygdala is the part of the brain responsible for storing all our trauma memories so we know how to deal with them the next time they happen. So if you watch the MV's: the trilogy is "Agust D", "Daechwita" then "Haegum." Then "Amygdala" is like the prequel to this, also showing his mental health struggles, OCD, depression. So he's been weaving up this whole storyline for the past 3 years. Just Brilliant.

I stood on the outside, helpless, praying I would not lose him one day to self-distruct. He is 39 now and has learned to manage his life, so when I followed Yoongi's story, he stole my heart, and I sobbed while watching this video, and still cry every time I see it. Amygdala is part of the brain that processes traumatic memories. It is shaped like an almond. So one of Suga's characters in the music video is eating almonds. There is a Korean novel called 'Almond' that both Suga and RM read that is about a young boy whose amygdala wasn't functioning properly. The boy's mother kept giving him almonds to eat thinking that would make his amygdala function better.

Ill address the elephant in the room. Yoongis parents did NOT want him to go into the music business. They even ripped up his music. They were down to earth practical people. They wanted him to get a job because , frankly, they had lil money and didnt have faith that he would succeed. He gets his sarcasm and savage attitude from his parents. Realists. So in the song he talks about choices- he ( bts) were flat broke and on the verge of splitting up- Bighit ( the company that funded everything) was going bankrupt. His shoulder was a mess from the accident and didnt heal right so he took painkillers . He was feeling guilt from not being able to help or be there for his parents. SUcess started coming. His parents FINALLY came to see him in concert and he fell to his knees and cried bowing. In korean culture - many kids respect their parents wishes and DONT go against them. Respect for your elders is huge. Chasing his dream meant him him going against what they want AND NEEDED from him ( to help out). He suffered not only physically but emotionally. Ps. His mom and dad are ok😻🐈⬛❤

Thanks for your reaction. I love this song, is my favorite of the album. It made me cry because is tells part of Yoongi's traumas Much of the video refers to an accident Suga suffered shortly before debuting in 2012 while working as a delivery boy to pay for his studies while he was a Bighit trainee. At first, he told his group members that he had fallen from the stairs, but in reality a car hit him when he was riding his bike and he says that after falling he saw that his head was almost under the wheels of the car. Suga did not want to reveal the truth to the agency because he thought they would reject him, after a while he had to say it because his shoulder had been dislocated as a result of the accident and did not heal well becaused of lack of treatment and rehabilitation. Eventually the company paid his treatment and his studies... after debuting, he had injections and therapies for years until he could not postpone his surgery because over time and being an idol with intense choreography, the injury worsened so he underwent surgery for the pandemic and was offstage for about 4 months while he recovered In other songs he's released in the past as Agust D, on mixtapes for Soundcloud, he talks about his depression, social anxiety and panic attacks...it's the first time he's commented on his mom's heart surgery and the liver cancer that his father had. He found out about his dad's cancer while he was fulfilling his schedule with BTS (which has been very tight and demanding and he probably could not be with his father as long as he would have wanted due to being under contract and his corresponding obligations) When the wound is inflicted on the face, I think it seeks to reflect how it has hurt itself in the past (the mind of a depressed person, we already know that it hurts itself a lot and he mentioned in one of his songs that he have thought about s*u*i*c*i*d*e in the past) and I also think it represents the birth of your alter ego Agust D which would allow him to externalize his shadows in parallel to BTS When he says: I don't know your name, I think he refers to himself... to that shadow in his unconscious mind... in his song "The Last" he mentioned that his father told him they didn't know him... and he commented that if he did not know himself, how would other people would get to know him? and he also mentioned that sometimes he was afraid of himself In Haegeum, the one who is the chief of police is the one who killed the tyrant king in Daewchita, who has now become corrupted with power... For me it symbolizes Suga's shadow, which is in his unconscious mind due to his traumas and which he seeks kill whenever he feels he is taking off and gaining more power... a part of him reveals himself to the re-installation of the tyrant and kills him By the end he is rushing to save himself but he can't open the door, to my is becaused Agust D represents his traumas lodged in the past... and the past cannot be changed 🤔 Although I think that now at this moment he is more at peace with himself, it seems that during the pandemic that shadow returned for a while like many other people who found themselves in a dark place during that period but finally he was able to heal more of his wounds and that is why D-Day arrives This song is inspired by a book that Yoogi read called "Almond", is about the story of a young man with a disease that prevents him from recognizing and expressing emotions, and which is associated with an undergrowth of the cerebral amygdala, usually the size of an almond. It's a story about growing up, discovering yourself, and accepting that help doesn't always come where we expect it Regards from México

Yoongi described the amygdala as a closet where you throw in all of your trauma. it is a part of the brain that is shaped like an almond. Yoongi made this song to represent that he looked inside that "closet" and was able to see what he had there and now he can move on. He's not a person that is tied to all these struggles that he suffered. His mother didn't pass away fortunately, he still has a good relationship with both of his parents today :) and yes he had an accident when he was a trainee, he worked pass-time as a delivery boy. After he had the accident, he tried to hide the injury from the company because he was afraid that he might get kicked out of the group, but when bang pd (BigHit's CEO) found out, he paid for Yoongi's hospital bills and for his university fees. Yoongi had to go through so much pain after the accident, he got shots for the pain every time he had to do concerts when bts was on tour, but he finally got surgery done in 2020 and his shoulder doesn't hurt anymore :)

The Yoongi in the room is the traumatised one who became AGUST D. It's a trilogy ..... Dechwita then haegeum then amydala -

Amygdala is the part of our brain responsible for processing all our emotions/feelings and our fight or flight response!! It stores all our traumatic memories and the emotional significance of those events. There's a book called "the almond" (yoongi recommend it once) that talks about a boy with an undeveloped amygdala, which means he's unable to identify or express his feelings. Including suffering and pain. So i think when yoongi's saying "my amygdala please save me" he's basically begging not to feel anything at all, just like the little boy in the book, cause that would be so much easier than dealing with everything.

This song became my fave in "D-day" for many reasons... I also wept on my 1st watch... Every imagery here does represent a reality, and yes his parents both suffered health issues, the lyrics are true. His accident was more serious than ofc represented here, he went under a truck while doing his job as a courier to pay off his college debts in secret, when he was a trainee at Bighit. His shoulder got smashed and he hid it from the company, in fear of losing the trainee spot, gave other reasons as to why he was absent etc. But the company said they'll wait for him. Thankfully when they found out, they paid off his debt, and in 2020, he finally had his surgery because it was getting harder for him to perform under that much pain. Story here is basically him living through all the bad memories over and over again and he had said he "chose" to scar himself by accepting those traumas as weaknesses, but then he embraces the past since he cannot change it and instead turns those memories into smth he can re-visit to empower himself, and to push himself (as you can see from the Suga eating almonds - instead of pills -, which represents rebirth, growth and overcoming struggles in Chinese culture, and is also where the "Amygdala" name comes from, Greek for almond, name of the part of the brain that stores traumas for survival instincts basically, shaped like almond)

The trilogy is only between the THREE albums: Agust D - The Last D-2 -Detcwita D-Day - Hegaeum Pill popping refers to how either self-medicated or psychotropic drugs (pills or shots) could be used to balance one's altered brain chemistry. His ability to write some of the most raw and real traumatic parts of his life over a hot beat is… unreal. It’s why we go so intensely for him he’s taught through his own pain how to start to process our own traumas. He’s admitted in other songs about being suicidal and more. He has studied psychology and has said he’d like to help others as a counselor but uses music to such a strong affect. This isn’t an MV that you rewatch hype like Daechwita or Haegum but the concept of how he showed things is as detailed visual storytelling as those two. It’s very brave and I respect him so deeply. Also his acting skills truly blow me away.

His accident caused shoulder pain for a long time until he had surgery a few years ago. The amygdala is the part of our brain that retains traumatic experiences. He's really opened up with his personal trauma with this one. ARMY is so protective and proud of our Yoongi for his courage in sharing these things. Thank you for treating this reaction with care. 💜

Pronounced A-mig-da-la. FYI - this accident actually happened right before they debut. He delivered food to make some money to buy food for the members (BigHit was a poor company so they didnt make money and at the time his family didn't support his choices to pursue music). His shoulder was crushed under the wheel of the car. It was inches from his head he told us. Keep in mind, ALL videos we see him perform the choreography he had a busted shoulder. He was scared that BigHit would kick him out so he didnt tell anyone until like a couple years later. They then gave him his first surgery (for the time). He finally got his FINAL surgery in 2020 after he performed the ON MV in LA. As someone who actually had my clavicle and rotor cuff repaired, we are NEVER the same. I have a 15% disability (can't lift over 10lbs over my head) and weather changes kill me in pain. I give it up to Min Yoongi for doing all he did with that pain. He is a strong dude.

There’s a lot here to unpack. First, yes Yoongi’s mother is doing fine now but she did have heart surgery when he was born. Second, the motorcycle accident happened when Yoongi was a trainee at BigHit (at the time, BigHit was almost bankrupt) and he was working 2 jobs while also being a trainee. Yoongi has said that there were days that he had to decide to eat or to be able to take the bus.. He worked as a food delivery driver. And he was driving in the rain, and he had an accident where he hurt his shoulder. He was afraid to tell the company that he hurt his shoulder. But all the dancing gave him so much pain, he was taking pain killers pretty much constantly. He did have surgery on this shoulder, finally, during the pandemic, when they had a break from touring and performing.

To add to what people have written below, Yoongi worked as a delivery boy while BTS were trainees because they were so poor. He was hit by a car and he said when he opened his eyes the tire was inches from his face. When he got back to the dorm, he told the other members that he fell down the stairs and they just found out rather recently. He was in so much pain but danced like nothing was wrong, which was an unbelievable feat, and hence the painkillers as well. He was afraid that he would be kicked out of the group if the company found out about his injuries because they were practicing 16 hours a day. He recently had surgery and you can see how much he was missed on stage by the things the members did to keep him there. His story is worth looking into. .His mom had the surgery right after Yoongi was born and Yoongi was sent to be raised by his grandparents for a while. His father got sick while BTS was on a world tour. The scar--Yoongi said he wanted to symbolically show that our scars are self-inflicted. Yoongi also tried to take his life while a trainee. It's a lot but he truly looks and sounds happy now! 💜 Borahae! Happy Festa !!!!!! BTS's 10-year anniversary is on Tuesday. 💜🎈🍷🎶💕💜

Once again you give so much respect to Suga and this song. Trying to understand what he’s saying. Some of your insights are right on. The Amygdala is a part of the brain which is responsible for Processing frightening and traumatic stimuli. When Suga was still a trainee before they debuted he was working as a scooter delivery guy to make money for tuition. He didn’t tell the company or even the other members about the accident that broke his shoulder. He was afraid he would be cut. He said he fell down the stairs. Years later he told them and it was caught on camera. When the company found out apparently they paid his tuition . aRMY correct me if I have anything wrong. he took3 months off in 2020 to get surgery on his shoulder (the MRI images are in the video) as the pain had become unbearable.

All the events really happened.. the accident messed his shoulder up, he kept it secret.. the company eventually found out started getting him help for it but his shoulder eventually gave up (During Black Swan) and he had to have surgery to fix it.. Also, you’re spot on about the video, the couch is in his head.. The Amygdala is an almond shaped part of the brain responsible for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response to threatening or dangerous stimuli… he’s begging his Amygdala to save him..

@ljp2 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Amygdala is basically a prequel to the first two songs. It just explains the origin of how this alter ego of Agust D was born. Yoongi said himself that the scar represents the self-inflicted pain that we as people do when we experience trauma. I don't believe Yoongi did physically self-harm but it was emotional and psychological. You know how we sometimes feel like victims of trauma and that can cause us to hold ourselves back from healing and happiness. Regarding the pill-popping, when Yoongi had his bike accident, he mentioned that because he was so scared to get kicked out of the group, he didn't report it and instead said he "fell". And since had to endure the pain of the injury throughout his whole career. He mentioned that he took painkillers for years because of it and once the pain was no longer responding to the medication and it was hard for him to lift his arm, that's when he ended up getting surgery during the pandemic (2020). I feel like Amgydala and the whole album of D-Day was cathartic for Yoongi as he's said in recent interviews that this version of him is no more and he's grown emotionally. He really is a lotus flower. PS> Both of his parents are still alive

Just recently found your channel! I've been really enjoying your reactions! Just wanted to add that on Yoongi's final day of his tour, at the end he usually just walks off the stage and you probably saw on your show, but this time, for the last show, the white door appeared and we finally get to see Yoongi walk through that door and "escape". My mind was totally blown away when i saw that. A lot of us realized that the stage for the concert was actually mimicking the "mind"/ the room in Amygdala. So the songs and concert and then finally walking through the door at the very end, shows that he is taking the next step away from his past and looking into the next chapter! Absolut genius in my opinion. (sorry not sure if i explained it well, but man it was sooo impactful)

I like your reactions so far, it's genuine. Both his parents are well today, he felt the guilt because his mom had to undergo heart surgery after giving birth to him (or after he was born), he was only 2-3yo then and i believe as a child such trauma does impact you. And then during BTS debut days, he had to work multiple jobs while training as an idol. One of which is a delivery boy and one day he met with an accident, hurt his left shoulder but he could not tell anyone for fear of losing his place to debut with the team. We see how high impact and fast BTS dances are and he had to persevere through these years doing these dances with an injured shoulder. Only until 2020 did he have the time to finally undergo surgery for this. This is just one story from one member.. this is why Armys love BTS and protects them so much, they are very worth it.

I'm obviously watching this a year later, but it takes me right back to the D-Day concerts. I cannot say enough how epic I believe SUGA's D-Day Tour was and he did nothing short of prove once again that he is a true genius. I have never in my life witnessed such a full-circle vulnerable capturing of one’s journey so beautifully expressed thru their art quite like this culmination given to us thru day 3 of D-Day The Final. The way Yoongi managed to tell his story thru multiple different forms of art spanning a 10 year time frame only to weave that into the most perfect Final concert of a 28 leg tour that completely, masterfully and quite literally closed the door to a painful past while at the same time setting himself free and accepting every part of himself is nothing shy of genius! I know no other word to describe it except every word that describes something amazing. I bow to his bravery, vulnerability, strength, compassion, loyalty, talent and love! I could never thank him enough for enduring everything he's endured, and for staying alive to bring us these precious gifts that honestly probably won't even be fully understood for some time. He truly is a precious human. I read a few comments but not all of them, and I'm sure that you probably found out more information about this, so I apologize if I'm repeating things you already know. Yes Yoongi's accident is real, but what I didn't see someone say is that another reason he was worried that he would get fired from the company and didn't tell them about his accident was because he didn't think they would be ok with him working a part time job because they were supposed to be putting everything into their training. But he was very poor as was his family and so they could not send him money to help with expenses and BigHit was on the verge of bankruptcy so they got very little from them as well. But, when he finally told the company, they gave him money for the doctors bills and they told him that they would help him with other expenses. If memory serves, I think that some of that may have been for school. You know all of the boys have college degrees, I think Yoongi was working to pay for school, but when they found out they said they would help him. I'm honestly not sure where I heard that, so I can't say it's 100% correct, but it's how I've always understood it. Yoongi has also talked about his anxiety and struggling to be around crowds, which ironic given his career. He has also suffered from depression. I've seen some people say they thought the pills he was taking in the video were to represent the painkillers he took, and I've heard others think that it was his medications they give you for things like depression, who knows both could be true. But there was an incident, I cannot remember the year now, but it was a long while ago and he suffered from such anxiety they actually had to cancel the show. He carried so much guilt for that not just for disappointing ARMY but also BTS. People already told you about his parents and yes they are both still alive and very proud of him. You really should watch sometime that moment when he bows to his parents the first concert they attended, it is very emotional. Just another vulnerable moment that he shared with us. What is so amazing about Yoongi and honestly all of BTS as you have seen is that they are not afraid of the tough subjects, and Yoongi has been at the forefront of that with mental health. This brings me full circle and back to the D-Day tour. The fact that he wrote those 3 albums spanning 10 years and yet made them all intersect in that theme of the concert was so incredible to me. I don't know if you connected that at the beginning of the concert he was carried up to the stage and laid down, that was mirroring that first VCR (video that plays before and when he's changing during the concert) when it ended and he way lying on the ground, but also it was mirroring the end of the Amygdala MV. This whole series as you've already discussed is Min Yoon Gi reconciling not only the trauma in his life, but also his own anger, greed and those more negative feelings that we all struggle with. But, if you remember the beginning of Amygdala he is singing, "I don't know my name." That resonated with me so much and how appropriate for him as well, and this theme plays out in the VCR's on the concert, because he has 3 names and he struggles with who he is and who he wants to be, and I believe this was Min Yoon Gi reclaiming himself because he had said that he killed Min Yoongi in "The Last" but Agust D and SUGA are all versions of himself that helped him in different ways to get where he is now, so I don't think he's killing them, I think he's accepting them all as a part of himself and realizing they all play a role in being Min Yoon Gi, the man that has become so successful, not just in his career, but also in his life. He is a role model now for the generations below him and he and BTs work to make it so that they don't have to struggle especially mentally like they did. If you've never watched the D-Day Day 3 of his Final concert series, you really must. He to put it bluntly "leaves everything on that stage" I imagine there was a lot factored into his emotions on the stage that night. He was no doubt proud of himself for succeeding with his first solo tour, sad that it was over, accepting that this would be his last performance for at least 2 years, which he had already experienced through Covid, his life would change in the military, and just finally closing the door on this chapter of his life in every way. But even with all of that emotion during a few of his ending songs, when he came out and sang D-Day that man had the biggest smile on his face. And you know how he walked out rather quickly at the end of every show, at the end of this final show he ended up coming back and saying his final good=byes, again with the most proud and complete smile, and then there was a door on the staqe (well I guess floor) and he walked back to the door (remember the one he couldn't open at the end of Amygdala? It was that door, and he opened it and walked thru. So, when you saw Yoongi from his training days and the accident running to the door, that was himself running to save himself and in the concert it was also himself after all of the unpacking of the trauma that he finally felt whole and could walk himself proudly through that door and onto the next chapter of his life. Obviously, much of this is my interpretation and some may have others, but I just had to talk about it because it completely blew my mind away and also makes me cry every time I watch it. If you ever want to watch it, I have it available privately just contact me at my handle name at gmail. I would be happy to share it with you and all of the songs are subtitled. Anyway, I love your reactions, sorry I got so behind, but this week I really needed something fun and uplifting to watch, so I started from the beginning and you have definitely helped me forget the real life disaster happening. So, thank you.

There is a reason why Suga ended his recent Suga/AgustD show with this song (before the encore part). You went to this show. At the end of the song performance he is carried off the stage by the dancers. Such a powerful MV. My interpretation - Aside from him sharing his past, shaping who he is, he's showing us how that past trauma created (fresh wound which is the scars in the other videos) the Agust D persona (which he used to release music expressing the things he was going through outside the 'idol' image), Daechwita is him getting rid of an older version of Agust D (you can see the scar healing in the more modern Suga in the video), then Haegem getting rid of the anger that was Agust D- freeing himself (scar is gone at the end). Just my thoughts. Also, yes he was in a motorcycle accident and he couldn't tell anyone because it was during his trainee days and he might have been released from his contract with BigHit if they thought he couldn't continue. So he hid it from everyone. If you haven't looked it up yet, Amygdala is a part of the brain that stores the experience of emotions (emotions from past traumas are stored there).

Also, he was trying to escape his own mind. You got that right. And in the other videos he was killing off parts/versions of himself that he removed from his life. He's gone through so much growth and evolution as a person. He's come a long way from that young man who had such anxiety he couldn't come out of the bathroom and they cancelled a concert. His lyrics in Agust D songs really capture so much! If you get a chance, check out First Love live. One of my all time favs!

Suga once said that he hated it when people knew things about his private life. This song really shows that. I can't even imagine the pain he must have felt growing up knowing that his mother's health issues started the year he was born. I get why Augst D is a trilogy and why he was so angry in the past when relatives said he would ruin his family doing music. He has such a burden already but music was all he loved to do so he was under so much torment. He was made to feel like he would not be able to take care of his parents as time went along. " in my ears I could hear the sound of my mother's life ticking away" Damn a tear slipped down. Part of his loneliness was that he could not tell anyone about his mother and father's health issues in a prison he built for himself. I am so glad he has music and songwriting to take it all in and let it all go. Snooze is my favourite song that made me cry first but this song.... I finally get who agust D is, he is someone that allows Suga and Yoongi to be his truest and rawest self. Agust D has fulfilled the mission, it is done.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. I was finally able to cry for him at last on my 2nd watch. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. FYI his parents are both alive and doing fine as far as we know. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟 I Purple Jimin 💜said on 4/25/23 People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. It's the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hypervigilance so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that his been able to be so open with these issues. Alix DriftwoodDragons said on 4/25/23 I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point. The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world. @charethiebeldad8303 said on 5/4/23 His trying to save himself, but failed so he just accepted the other side of him wholeheartedly and later they both find healing,. He's also never shyed away from speaking about the serious and the "taboo" topics. In my opinion, it's like through his music, he's telling us that everything will be okay no matter how bleak things may be at the moment. a few pointers that might help: 1. amygdala is the part of the brain that stores trauma, so here he is pleading for it to "work" properly so that he can overcame it. he is also seen eating almonds through out the mv because in the book "amygdala" by Won Pyung Sohn, the authors mom is giving him almonds to eat in order to make his brain work properly and help him get over his trauma 2. his talking about the motorcycle accident he had at 18 during his part time job as a delivery boy, when he was a trainee. from that accident he received a solder injury that he got treated a few months ago. he has talked about this accident before and how he couldn't say anything to his management because he thought he would lose his job, but we found out though this song about his parents.. (they are both alive btw) 3. his has talked in more detail about his depression, social anxiety and ocd in an older song called "the last". its a song from his first solo mixtape that's very graphic and intense, i would love to see your reaction to it but it is a very had pill to swallow but yeah hope this helped

Thank you for reacting respectfully to Amygdala. I ugly cried during the first viewing. His parents are alive and well. Mum had a pacemaker inserted just after his birth. In 'The Last' he mentioned his parents went with him for counselling in the early years for his trauma-related episodes. They also suffered with him and literally cried when they saw him going through emotional upheavals while producing this D-DAY album. But his counselling helped (unpacking, processing & resolving painful memories) - as depicted in the Amygdala room. He is healed. That's why he is able to produce this song. He is in a happier, lighter state these days. ❤

"which version are you killing?" It's actually what makes this conclusion darkly beautiful. In the first 2, the newer versions of himself (as the scar healed) was killing the older versions of himself, but in this one it flips the script and the oldest, and youngest version of Yoongi ran to try to save Agust D.

This is my favorite channel for reactions. You really care about the artist's intent and interpreting the music itself. Now very many reactors do this. And, you're always extremely respectful. Can't wait for the next one

He tried to open that door and get out of the pain he had been through, but he still couldn't move on. But on his last day of D-Day concert, he opened that door and got over that pain.

In the last concert of his tour, after he sang his last song, a door appeared, he then opened the door and walked through the door to close his first chapter and joined military service.

I’m not sure I’m the only one, but I cry every time I I watch this MV it eats my heart out for his troubles and life issues and his parents! I get so sad because he had suffered a lot for people to just come and throw shade and hate to him… it’s very hard and difficult to not cry knowing those things that he lived through at such a young age. 😢 I can’t stop Crying while watching this, idc what my children say. I cry out like a baby seen This MV. 😭💜

Yoongi is very strong guy. Even after his parents surgery, his surgery, d threats, nitpicking life threatening backlash (especially 2018) he still stand stronger and bloom like beautiful Lotus. He can choose more destructive path but he didn't. You know it make sense why he is very sensitive person. He used to hold into past but since last year he seems to be more happy. In his latest episode of talk show Suchwita, he revealed how his talk with Jin (BTS member) also help him, help him to be happy & of course his own effort. Im glad he's in peace. He is more happy

He is not killing a version of himself in this video. In Daechwita and Haegum you see how he chooses to reinvent himself. The scar represents trauma and each time he decides to change the trauma scar heals a bit. In this song he investigates how the trauma he endured shaped his decisions. He mentioned how he came to the conclusion that how you react to experiences that are out of your own control dictates if you get scarred from it and how severe it is. In the trilogy you see him get rid of rules and conventions he obeyed because of the experiences he had shown in this last video. He shows not only how your experiences can scar and shape you but also that you can get free from them.

In the video he is eating almond, almond is an other name used to talk about amygdala, there is a book named " almond " that all the rapline of bts have read who talk about a little boy with an atrophy of the amygdala. Because of this condition he can't feel and express any emotions and his mother try to cope with it by giving him almond to eat to feed his amygdala. This book is truly a heartbreaker. Bts is know for putting lot of references in their song and clip i love to read their recommandations it's help me understanding their music better and i really feel like they help me growing up to become someone i'm proud of and to cope with my own issues. Because of them i've never felt alone it's comforting to find artist who find the words you're struggling to express. This song hit hard in our deppest demons.

He walked through the door in the last concert of the D-Day tour, looked like the entire stage was a representation of this room/his mind. It was so meaningful. It makes me happy that, in some way, he managed to heal himself through making music (art), and many of his fans have healed by listening to him.

His parents are both healthy and alive. And he himself is doing great and came out stronger after all that he’s been through. That’s our Yoongi, he became one of the kindest human being despite and in spite of. 💜

What others have said, the amygdala stores those reactions to fear and such, but he said in an interview that it’s for protection. So you know to be afraid of danger. But if you have all this fear and trauma stored up, and it’s supposed to be protecting you, when will you finally be safe so you can let that trauma go? What I got from it was… that which doesn’t kill is makes us stronger, but when will I finally be strong enough so I won’t suffer or be afraid anymore? In the context of the other two songs, I feel like he’s understanding these other versions of himself were his psychological response to his fear, anger, trauma. Valid at the time, but also harmful (like the self-inflicted wound). We wound ourselves in response to trauma and fear. We are inside our own heads, harming ourselves, trapped in our fear, anger, and trauma, and constantly healing ourselves in an endless cycle of growth.

Thank you so much for reacting to this. This song means so much to me. I kind of like your idea of the amygdala being a savior. Even though it's technically part of the brain, it is the core of what triggers our fight, flight, and/or freeze responses when faced with a perceived threat. It often does protect us.

let's recap the situations of yoongi and because he is the most admirable person I have ever met and my idol to death: 1. Yoongi's mother had a heart operation and a pacemaker was placed after he was born. He himself reported that he felt guilty about his birth because he thought that was why his mother was sick. 2. he had a motorcycle accident when he was working part-time taking deliveries, dislocated his shoulder and had an injury that he never checked. It was during the time before the debut, so he didn't say anything to the company and the members, for fear of being removed from the group. He had to support the pain of him shoulder while doing complicated choreographies from 2013 until 2021, when she finally had shoulder surgery. 3. He had depression and social anxiety, transitioning to social phobia. In the Last, he indicates that there were times when he tried to commit su1cid3 and that even his parents did not know him. Yoongi had to decide between eating or taking the bus to go home, many times he sold his songs at very low prices to have some money. 4. Debuting in a bankrupt company, big companies attacked bts as a group for being an idol group of a company that no one recognized. The seven of them slept in one room, They were not even given a dressing room for them to get ready and rehearse, Often they were put in the corridors of the programs. In addition, when they went to different variety shows they were mocked because they said that some hip hop artists could not be idols. From these programs, cypher pt.2 was wrote. 5. During 2015. when they were on HYYH's tour, Yoongi had a panic attack due to social phobia. Yoongi hid in the bathroom and no one could get him out, the bts guys came out to apologize to ARMY from Japan and presented two songs because that same day, tae was sick too so there were only five of them. 6. when he released the album D-2, there was a strong wave of hatred towards yoongi because of one of the songs on the album, the one of "what do you think?", because the intro had a speech by a politician. Yoongi during his usual live where he explains each of the songs, specified that he received the track and put the lyrics of the song, so he had no specific knowledge of that speech. It was so intense that they made him modify the song and offer an official apology for what happened. 7. In 2017 there was a wave of hatred towards BTS, one of the biggest was when they were accused of plagiarizing a scenario and an album concept. All of them had a really hard time during that time. This is explained during the Wings Tour: the final in Seoul. 8. When they were filming official BTS content, Yoongi received a family call informing him that his dad had liver cancer, which made him leave the recording and return to Seoul. And I can write more and more, but this shows how extremely strong yoongi is as a person. A real artist.

Amygdala is an almond shaped part of the brain that processes and triggers fear (trauma). That's why you see in MV that the pills change in to almonds. To know what is Suga's intention behind the scar, you should watch the shooting sketch of Amygdala. He explains it there. The accident happened long time ago. At that time, BigHit still struggle financially and before BTS debut so Suga worked as a delivery guy and got into accident. He said that the wheel was near his head. He got shoulder injury but he was afraid to tell anybody scared that if the company found out, he will get cut and not be able to debut. So He endured the pain while did extreme dance since before debut until 2020 when he finally got his shoulder fixed. 7 or 8 years he endure the pain. He is very persistent. The pill, yes he consume a lot of pill for his shoulder pain and depression. But all are either prescribed or vitamins.

Suga was a delivery guy while he was a trainee, he needed to pay his school. it was a real accident. He was afraid to be kicked out and didnt tell anybody about accident, he told that he fell down from stairs but he is ok. he took painkillers to minimalize his pain, but we could see in some concerts how he is suffering from the shoulder pain. he had this pain till 2020 - so, over 7 years!!! until he d got a surgery. When bighit discovered it (probably on his earlier debut years), they said, he should tell them earlier, they paid his school that he doesnt need to work on side jobs. as far as we know, his parents are alive, coz in one recent episode of Suchwita he said that his father always reminds him to have some family and kids. amygdala is a part of brain, responsible for bad memories and fears. it has an almond shape. it affects/creates intrusive thoughts, that creates an ocd syndrome, when people's mind and body cant control over themselve (example - when people are automatically covering their face when they hear a dog barking if they had an accident with a dog).

This mv made me rethink the parts in his past songs where he says "I ain't no weak pill popper like you." They sounded like basic dis tracks but now I think he was talking to the fragile part of himself that keeps revisiting his wounds and making his scars deeper. I don't know. All I know is that he's brave and brilliant and the world is a better place for having him in it.
