AgustD a.k.a. SUGA , one of the 3 rappers from BTS. He is an award winning producer, and his work is beloved all around the world because of his honesty and vulnerability in his lyrics . He talks openly about his struggles with depression and social anxiety. He advocates for mental health awareness in a society where things like this are still extremely taboo. The rivalry you talked about is not directed to any one person, although Suga said that if you see yourself in his work, then it´ s your problem Suga along with his now band mate RM both came from the underground hip hop scene and they both recieved an enourmous amount of hate from fellow rappers when they decided to join BTS (they were called sell-outs and girls etc.) and also from the big 3 Kpop companies, because BTS were from a small company and they started to change the status quo as soon as they debuted in 2013. So hate from all corners. He already achieved so much and he is just beginning. This guy lives and breathes music (plays piano beautifully, learns guitar) I would urge you to check out BTS as a whole, there is a reason they are the most popular group in the world right now or maybe start with the rap line first. Each has his own very different style and all 3 are world class Suga a.k.a. AgustD you´ve just seen, RM- genius level IQ of 145+, a philosopher, and the depth in his lyricism across 2 languages is incredibly high level (there are bilingual Eng/Korean literature professors that are amazed with his work) JHope- master of flow switches, he just recently headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago, where he performed songs from his new solo album Jack in the box. You know, seeing people react to this song for the first time is always so much fun. I really like the fact that you went in completely unbiased, because you had no idea who he is, or what he does. Min Yoongi. Better known as Suga from BTS, who goes by AgustD for his solo tapes. Besides being an amazing rapper, he's known as a songwriter for being raw and honest. He's also an excellent producer, he's won awards for his work with other artists. And amongst the BTS members, he's the main producer. I think people sometimes get surprised by his personality off stage. He's soft spoken, a bit introverted. Though he can be very no nonsense and to the point when it's needed. He's got a very dry sense of humour, which we love. He's often the guy quietly looking after the other members in the background. I never liked boybands myself, but when I got to know them and their music, I realised the image I had of them was completely wrong. I grew up in the rock and heavy metal community. But I am very much a part of the BTS ARMY now. These guys write and compose a lot of their own music. All 7 members are multi talented and at the top of their game. Imagine The Jacksons, but everyone is at Michael's level.. Like that. If you're interested, ARMY would be more than happy to help you get to know them, by reccomending different videos. They were invited to the Oval Office last May, and had four sold-out stadium shows in Vegas last April. His bandmate J-hope just headlined at Lollapalooza last month, selling the most tickets in the history of the festival. But as you might already glimpse from this MV, BTS is no ordinary boy band. The pill poppers in this song are the underground rappers who belittled him and friend and member Kim Namjoon as they went from underground to kpop. Fun fact after this song was released in early 2020 the pill popper in question was jailed for possession and assault. Min Yoongi (his real name) aka SUGA (his BTS stage name short for shooting guard) aka Agust D (Suga backwards with added DT for Daegu Town - his hometown) is one of the fastest rappers in Korea if not also globally. He calls it his tongue technology. There are a lot of references to BTS and their fanbase ARMY. Two members of BT&S (the youngest and the oldest) start the fight in the background. The six background dancers in the beginning portray the other six members of BTS, the girl who offers the chest with the car keyes is ARMY. BTS started out as a hip hop band thus they are having 3 very capable and versatile rappers which are also the main song writers and producers of the band (although the vocal line also are songwriters and producers but not to the extent of RM & SUGA with almost 200 songs to their names each.) AgustD sampled traditional Korean music for this song. Daechwita. This traditional music piece usually was played by the military while marching when King was arriving. I love how his brain works. I really do. He brilliantly used it in his song where he calls himself a king and boasts about his success. In the music video beginning, he plays Daechwita which tells a listener before the song even starts that King is arriving. Also at the same time, he highlights his roots as Korean. Just to mash so well this traditional music with the trap is already a great achievement. And he uses so many Korean historical references in his rap too.

If the car surprised you, you might like to know that that kind of car is apparently a stereotypical gangster car in S Korea. Other trivia: "daechwita" is a traditional type of military marching music that played when the King would arrive. The two fighting in the background is a cameo of the oldest and youngest members of BTS, Jin and Jungkook respectively. The boxes the king version is holding up also have heads in them, so he's parading the heads of his enemies as well as hanging them from his wall. "Bang PD" mentioned in the lyrics is Bang "Hitman" Shi-hyuk, the founder of Big Hit, the company that put together BTS, and the scroll is a fancy version of a doodle the youngest in BTS once made of Bang. The place where the rebel version raps blindfolded is a prison. The executioner was the butcher the rebel version looked at in the beginning of the video; the executioner's dancing and spitting of alcohol was a ritual that was preformed before the execution. Min Yoongi (aka Suga, aka Agust D) has said that the song is a trap; it catches those who feel called out by some of the lyrics but it's not aimed at anyone in particular.

Yoongi (Agust D/Suga) won't ever say who these kinds of tracks are aimed at it's more if it offends you or you feel like it's aimed at you then it probably is. However, there was one song on his D-2 mix tape in which he did name some names but they were later taken out of the song before the final cut. Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16. Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17 in 2011, but was convinced to become a part of a new group (he was told he wouldn't have to dance!! LOL) as a rapper alongside members J-Hope and RM before making his debut as a member of BTS in 2013. In the initial years of his career in BTS, both he and his fellow group member RM faced criticism from the South Korean underground hip hop scene for "selling out" and becoming K-pop idols. Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce and compose music. In an interview for Grazia Korea, Suga/Agust D expressed a desire to release the music he wanted to do without having to consider popular appeal or music ranking. He intended to release his music for free in the form of a mixtape to avoid such considerations, commenting that an album "has a feeling of being trapped in some sort of framework" due to the need for company involvement in promotion and advertising. Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. Agust-D is Suga spelled backwards with t-D added that stands for Daegu Town where he comes from in South Korea. Suga is a member of the global superstar band BTS and also a music producer, composer, songwriter, rapper, singer & dancer. Suga was ridiculed by underground rappers bec he used to be one of them when he became an idol (singing and dancing other than just rapping). Underground rappers don't think highly of idols but Suga proved them wrong. This MV has so many easter eggs in symbolisms and meanings behind. I loved watching this! Agust D is an anagram, if I'm not mistaken, from D Town where he's from in S. Korea - tho the town's name escapes me, and Suga, his BTS stage name. Backwards makes AGUST D. As you would have already read in the comments AgustD a.k.a. Suga, is one of three rappers of the 7-member South Korean group BTS. BTS is the biggest group in the world and has the largest fandom in the world called the BTS ARMY. You'll be hearing a lot from them. When Suga (aka Agust D) left the South Korean underground rap scene to become one of the members of BTS he was heavily demeaned by his fellow rappers as betraying hip hop for a pay day in the often commercial world of what is called Idol music. They deemed him to no longer be a true rapper who could self-express. He was labelled a sellout. For years this created a lot of consternation and haunted Suga's sense of being even though he was fully accepting of his choice to become an Idol. For years he would lash out in raps both in BTS and as Agust D against his detractors. His verses often focused on declaring himself to be a superior talent to those who would put him down. In Daechwita Suga plays two roles. The first is as a mad king who metaphorically decapitates anyone who challenges him. Suga also plays a man of the people bent on replacing the mad king with a gentler incarnation of what it means to be (rap) royalty. Tied up by the king, he says I have achieved everything I wanted with all the accompanying rewards. Now what I want is to descend from this high and mighty persona so I can feel my feet on the ground experiencing life like an ordinary person not perpetually obsessed with making sure people know I am on top. He repeatedly calls for daechwita which is royal processional music. This is to be played for his new more compassionate incarnation of himself. He understands he no longer needs to use strength to secure his position in the eyes of the rap world as his choice to be part of BTS was the vehicle which brought him to the top. He can kill his old persona.

nice interpretation, I agree. my 2 cents, he along with his bandmates achieved such heights that he is basically untouchable now and he realised he doesn´t have to concern himself with the opinions of various wannabe rappers and other haters. They are inconsequential. He reached a point when he can do whatever the F he wants to, and what he wants to do is keep his feet on the ground and just make music.

Yes... Agust D is the alter ego of Suga from BTS (Agust D is Suga backwards and DT, which stands for Deagu Town... Where he is from). He is one of the most talented rappers, song writers and producers in the world and not just Korea. If you like this then I also reccomend the self titles song Agust D, Give it to me and also check out the rest of the BTS Rap line... RM (used to go by Rap Monster), I suggest Joke and Do You! J-hope, I suggest Hangsang, Ego, More and Arson! If you want to check out there songs together as a rap line then I suggest any of there Cyphers (your mind will be blown) to start with, and if you want to go any further in to the rabbit hole and actually check out BTS as a group then I would suggest Mic Drop and Fire to start with (BTS is not a pop band like people assume them to be) and although the rabbit hole is large and daunting... I can assure you that you will not regret it!

Agust D/Suga actually runs into 2 other members of BTS at the beginning of the video (Jin and Jungkook). Another member of BTS (J-Hope) released his first solo album in July with 2 music videos called MORE and Arson if you want to check those out. All 7 members of BTS have released solo songs and mixtapes over the 9 years they've been a group and their discography is very versatile sonically and lyrically with over 300 songs.

Not sure if anybody mentioned/addressed this, but you mentioned rivalry or possible beef between him & other rappers bc of some of the lyrics. Suga himself had mentioned the purpose behind those particular lyrics - he never specifically mentions or alludes to anyone. He does, however, put what he calls "traps" inside his lyrics, so if someone self incriminates, that's on them. Not his fault they expose themselves like that. They fall into his "traps" on their own. He basically gets these other people to tell on themselves if they claim those lines are about them 🤣 He's a literal genius honestly 😈😏
