Notice how the "trouble-maker"/thief Yoongi, killed the tyrant/boss Yoongi, but then proceeded to eat with the same chopsticks, he started off his mission with. Personally, i think it shows the repeating history. We all move up, taking spots or roles that feed into the same system we complain about, because we're stuck in this cycle. Right before the boss Yoongi died, he smiled - it's as though he's aware of how it will continue. The cycle never ends. It could also be that he's happy he's getting freed from it. In a sense, the only way to do so and be freed, is to die.

Here’s my thought process; If you watch daechwita it all makes sense. It’s history repeating itself. The king in daechwita was a tyrant and the other suga (let’s call him suga 1), along with members of society (the butcher/executioner) banded together to end his tyranny. However, in THIS video, Suga 1 (the other suga that kills the king) has now become the tyrant (is in the police and also prt of the gang). So now ANOTHER suga (suga 2) set him up (the robbery, the call that was being made by one of the guys funny enough is the same actor that plays the butcher so even in this timeline he’s a double agent) to end suga 1’s tyranny. However there’s a hint at the end of the video (when he’s looking at the camera with his noodles to his mouth) that even Suga 2 might follow the same path and maybe ANOTHER suga (suga 3?) will have to end his own tyranny (all the bad suga’s have scars and his hair is falling in the same placement a scar would). It’s really just a commentary on everyone has lofty ideals of being good but if you don t check yourself you might fall victim to the same bad behaviour you sought to destroy. Frankly it’s in tandem with the commentary on capitalism; the same chopsticks that’s used to kill one is used to feed another. We’re all hypocritical in some way as we benefit from others pain and we’re all “slaves” to the system. Be free and live your life but make sure you don’t go to far into self-indulgence and try your best not to fuck other people over cus it can deff come back to bite you

I was thinking the same but I couldn't phrase it you spoke my mind also yoongi said that the blond king in daechwita represents anger so he killed his anger and in this one the corrupt cop represents greed so he killed his greed and at the end someone came I guess and since we're having another mv maybe and other bad side or persona of agust d will die and the trilogy ends since suga said he won't do music as agust d anymore

According to Yoongi, D-day is the last part of his trilogy as Agust D. He mentioned during his interview with IU that in the next few years, it will be hard for us to see Agust D again as he wanted to live as Yoongi now. Agust D is the persona he made to have a way to tell things to those people who looked down on them/him (because Suga is an idol and he was not allowed to diss their haters in that persona). Agust D was created out of anger and frustration to those people. When he is Agust D, he can say whatever he wants without any fear and without dragging his team and him being Suga. And as he was getting older, he feel less angry towards those people and learned the concept of not giving a fuck to whatever they say or do. He believed that haters will always be there and no matter what they do, if these people don't like them, they can always look and create negative comments about them. As seen on the MV, there are two Agust D's existing. But, some ARMYS (as they explained) believed that the gangster type, was already Min Yoongi, himself. One thing to notice was the absence of the scar in his face unlike in Daechwita which both of them had. The police one was from the Daechwita MV who killed the king that ARMYS also believed ended up being greedy and jealous as well like the King he killed. Digging into this MV, the lyrics "new kind of haegeum" also symbolizes the new him. Him, being free from all the hatred, anger and frustration. Him, being already at peace. The MV may look rough but at the end, he killed the police yoongi with a scar that symbolizes that he already let go of the past him. He already let go of the anger. He already buried those personas. Analyzing everything, the King Agust D (which was Agust D from the Agust D MV) and the Police Yoongi (which came from the other Agust D in Daechwita) are both dead now. And the one that survived and only existing is the Gangster Yoongi which Yoongi himself. That's why he mentioned that this is the last part of him as Agust D, as both of them are not existing within him anymore.

the thing about freedom or right, it ends where the freedom or right of another begins. yeah, you have right of speech but another person also has the right for respect. hence, you need to be keen on crossing the lines. the thing about society now is they think freedom is cheap and infinite so they carelessly say whatever they want with no regard to consequences or impact of it to another person's life. so then, is that you exercising your freedom or are you merely self-indulging? this song's message is so profound, i have mad respect. and to be able to showcase this visually like this mv is just a whole new level of artistry. 💜 i loved your haegeum as a 2-stringed instrument theory! that's brilliant. yeah, the haegeum could be representing 2 sides of the same coin, and we're all players. nice! 🥂

70 year old Army here. "Haegeum" has a double meaning in this song. It is a traditional Korean instrument held on the knee and played like a stand up bass with a bow and two silk strings. It is used in this song. It also means liberation or freedom - very relevant. This song is tied to Daechwita and Amygdala. Listen to the whole album start to finish. It explains a lot. Anthony Ray had a really good analogy to this. This ties with Daechwita. The evil king was killed by the peasant...the peasant (the healed scar) became the cop who became corrupt because of all the power he had. The "thief" was actually another up coming good AgustD who went to the cops corrupt noodle spot where he does all his crimes behind the scenes of the police station, the guy on the phone was calling corrupt Agust while commoner Agust was taking over their stuff and taking the greed money. Corrupt Agust found him and took him to his boys to "dispose" of, but they were tired of the corrupt Agust and planned to have him killed with the commoner Agust. After corrupt was killed, the cops took the new leader "commoner Agust" to the noodle shop where he will now be in charge. Corrupt Agust smiles like that because he knows, by the past of his take over, that commoner Agust will turn out just like him.

Hi I seen this and I really liked how they interpreted this so all credit to Ha na min ( I hope you don’t mind me sharing this 🙏🙏🙏) The king from daechwita and Agustd got reincarnated in the present. The king still remains to be a powerful individual in the present. This can be seen when he was coming out of the police station. The police office at the door saluted to him. Agustd in the present seems to be an undercover cop. At first you would think that he's a bad guy but as the mv progresses, you will see that he laid a trap for the reincarnated king. At the end of the video, Agustd was able to defeat the reincarnated king (who is now a corrupt high ranking officer) just like what happened in daechwita. I assumed that the reincarnated king was corrupt because he got pissed when Agustd burned the money he took from the reincarnated king's people. Another proof that Agustd has the role of an undercover cop is the scene at the last part of the mv. He was in a police car but was free to get off of it to eat at a restaurant. Therefore, he is not being arrested but escorted. As for the song, the words used were very good. I guess he was trying to say that our society is filled with hypocrisy, greed, and jealousy. People only support and believe in things that would benefit them. Our society frowns upon a lot of things (therefore the term forbidden was used. I guess Agustd is saying that it is okay to do such things as long you don't overindulge and hurt others. The real evil people are those like the reincarnated king who use their money or/and influence to benefit themselves even to the point of they are causing harm to society. In the end Agustd killed the reincarnated king and was supported by the people in scene. I guess Agustd was implying that through his own means (maybe through his songs and good deeds) he will try to fight injustice with the help of the people who agree with his beliefs.

They human .. its normal to feel bit shit if their albums rank differently or if they will be pitted against each other at award shows . They will love each other yes but they now will be faced with who fans actually support .. it sucks when u see ur bandmates succeed and u dont . To me , bts have 3 god damn outstanding rappers who really deserve global recognition but sadly language barrier prevents global recognition but fans who are bts fans also have a way of supporting based on who they find more attractive . 14:16 no you're definitely right. it's a vicious cycle. he keeps killing his old self when that self becomes filled with greed and envy. he keeps doing it to so the humble version of himself can live on instead of the one tainted in the things he continuously critizes (envy, greed, jealousy, etc.). in both daechwita and haegeum the ''rebel'' or the ''good'' agust d kills the ''greed-filled'' or the ''bad'' agust d, which explains why the scar is mostly healed up now, as it's all apart of the same storyline. also maybe i'm reading too much into it, but the ''bad'' agust d laughing at the ''good'' agust d when he's pointing the g*n at him could also be because he (the bad agust d) knows he's never gonna truly die because the cycle is eventually gonna start again 🤷♀but anyway, the mv is FILLED with so much symbolism that goes even beyond the agust d story line, it's beyond applaudable. he's such a genius.

In Korea, you couldn't be a king if you had a scar on your face so it means the difficulties he had till become an king (represented in Daechwita and a police in Haegeum, both autorithies) = becoming an idol, also the traumas, mental problems and negatives comments about him and bts. In Daechwita, the blond one has a fresch scar because he still not free of these feelings (the ones he talked in 2016 mixtape, he's the 2016 agust d but older), wearing tradicional clothes because he's Yoongi past while the black haired in daechwita represents the actual Yoongi, with modern clothes, jewelry and a modern car as an idol ( I believe it's Suga) and a healed scar because he's more free to those feelings. If you compare, Yoongi is not agressive in D-2 like he was in Agust D mixtape. He diss people sometimes (Daechwita, Wdyt) but he talks about his fears, his dreams, he questions things and talks about his old friend. In Haegeum, he's the only with a scar, it's almost healed as if he's losing space to the other black haired with no scar that's actually Yoongi himself (what happened to Tony Montana, in Scarface movie. The more powerful he became, the bigger was his downfall. Listen to his song Tony Montana). And there's no blonde in Haegeum so Suga killed Agust D in Daechwita. It's his 2020 and 2023 version face to face now. Both are his present as well. Yoongi keeps killing his personas and i feel it's a circle that will repeat again in the future as if he can't completely be free from Agust D. IDK.

AdustD aka Suga aka Yoongi always "kills" his old self so he's free to evolve and become something new

Interesting fact: Suga has a red/black belt in Taekwondo and JK and Jimin both are black belts. They use their skills in acting/video's and dance. It's pretty dang cool!

Suga did again!! plays with words, Haegeum is a traditional Korean instrument, but it also means “lifting a ban”. So i am pretty sure is a rebellion song fight for freedom of expression and a revolution for himself, killing his old self again and become something new more close to Suga perhaps. The black hair Agust D, with the scar had kill the mad king (blonde Agust D with the scar) and now that he look like more close to Suga he kill the corrapted Agust D with black hair and the scar from daechwita.

Okay so i have a theory about Suga's scar (apologies for the "essay" lol) I don't know if I'm the only one but when listening to this song it reminds me of the hypocrisy bondage that some continue to use on others. For instance, in "Daechwita" Suga was kinda talking about people (like haters or people of a higher power) who try to control others but in the song Suga was basically breaking out of the "people controlling normal". So like with this song, "Haegeum", it makes me think of how we as people when breaking out of the "controlling normal" may sometimes get off track and become those people that we were trying to be free from. The suit and all dressed up Suga had the same scar on his face as the one in Daechwita but in Daechwita it was a "fresh cut" and in Haegeum it looked like it was in the healing process. Maybe the Suga that was trying to break the "people normal" in Daechwita was the same Suga that was dressed up in Haegeum. The Suga in Haegeum that was breaking the norm didn't have the scar at all and was "fighting himself". So maybe it's him trying to heal himself and basically keep him on track with a "healing scar" or a "we're almost there the scar is gone" lifestyle. We just basically have to focus on trying not to repeat the pattern and letting others know that nothing's wrong with you haters gon hate regardless. Lol idk it's just a theory that popped in my head.

Haegeum” means “allowing/unlocking something that was forbidden.” per Suga. The haegeum is both string & wind. One can't get rid of the other. One can play each together to find a happy medium?

The dance practice video of haegeum just came out. it's cool that he wrote, composed, produced, performed this song all by himself. like who's doing it like him.

Street thug Suga kills corrupt cop Suga. the writtingbis in multiple levels. I feel your explaination is one of those levels. Very astute.

Yoongi did mention it was a message directed to himself, he was reminding himself that he’s also culpable in the cycle of capitalism.

yes there are so many symbolic elements in the mv that also draws from Daecwhita. You could say this is a continuation of Daechwita but you guys were spot on with the analysis especially akeem. and the meaning of Haeguem is used in this song is to 'lift of a ban' or 'free whats forbidden'. love the reaction tho!! i hope you guys check out the rest of the album its really good🤗

Every day thing SUGA has meaning. We will find out more as the days go on. Every detail has a meaning! The chicken in the beginning. SUGA laughing as he steals tangerines! 😅Even the place it us filmed! Thailand in China Town. The history behind that town is unbelievable! It is about freedom its self!

I like your theories about two strings on one instrument. I was thinking at first maybe he was the cop that gets the dirty cop... because that cop car seems to be waiting on him. He's been in charge the whole time..... but also doesn't explain that much. 😂

i second this. it makes a lot of sense. Murisan Family(reactors) had also this kind of theory. and their explanations support this theory pretty well.

He said in the countdown for it to watch Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala all in a row. Can't wait to see what Amygdala will look like, considering what the song sounds like! Thematically I can see how it ties but so curious its MV will connect with the other 2.

Haegeum means lifting a prohibition or a ban...it also is the name of the instrument that is being played at the beginning of the mv

AgustD (the cop with the scar) smiled when he was getting shot by Yoongi, then yoongi left and took agustd's jacket with him, and the last shot you see how his hair falls on his eye like a scar? Yeah this all means that yoongi can never kill agustd, agustd is immortal and will always be part of yoongi no matter how many times he kills him

Agust D’s Haegeum means ‘to lift a ban’ or ‘to abolish.’ Haegeum’s meaning is deeply co-related to the overall Agust D theme which mainly talks about greed, anger, ambition, and success and how to break free of one’s personal flaws.

In his new documentary he explains the reason for the scar, he said the we as people give ourselves our own wounds in life. So that scar he did to himself. His new song amygdala it shows him doing that to himself

Haegeum is a Korean wood/string instrument, which you hear being played in the very beginning of the M/V.....However in this M/V haegeum is interpreted as liberation from what's forbidden.....the lyrics are crazy good in this M/V..... #D-DAY #OT7
