It's so cool that they did this for both regions. Different comic styles with each of its quirks. Of course, Sly 2 and 3 had way too many to do, so I get why they didn't go for it again.

This game was one of the first instances of me being introduced to Anime in my life. I remember being 6 when this game came out in 2002 and while watching the Anime opening and closing cutscenes I remember looking at them like "wow this is different." Lol and looking back now, I remember hearing the Japanese dub while watching them and wondering what is Sly saying because I didn't know what Japanese was at the time. Ahhh good times.

I really don't like how childlike everything looks in the Japanese one to make it look cuter. Sure the Japanese one has more smooth animation but they are completely different art styles and it explains why with the future games they kept the same ones since they made them look so much better and way more like a comic book, like it was meant to be. Enjoy the one you prefer but I enjoy more the original.

The anime version is so good and accurate. The biggest goof that was found in the American cinematic scenes in Sly Cooper and the Thievieus Raccoonus was Sly was wearing yellow gloves and black shoes in the movie scenes while the game, he wears the blue gloves and shoes. But in both movie scenes and game scenes in the Japanese version, he wears the blue gloves and shoes

So here's some odd details that I've just noticed, during the scene where young Sly is reading through the Thievius Raccoonus, it's not only implied that each line of text takes up two pages (watch the how the eyes follow each line) but American Sly seems to be reading the book backwards....also, shouldn't the front cover be on the other side of the book for Japanese Sly?

Sly seems to be drawn in a bishonen art style which makes him look cuter or handsome in some shots. I think he might've been interpreted more as a teenager than an adult in the Japanese animation. The emphasis on beauty also removes the mischievous crook/thief appearance of Sly.
