2:23 someone likely already pointed this out, but it's 8000 feet, not 8000 meters. Mount yari is 3000 meters (10 000 feet). While the 8000 meters mark is also very important mountaineering, it's important for quite literally the opposite reason. Above 8000 meters is "the death zone", where oxygen levels are insufficient to sustain human life for an extended period. That's when you're actually supposed to accelerate as you are reliant on your oxygen supplies to survive. There are only 14 mountains above 8000 meters, they are called the eight-thousanders. The main theme of The Climber is that the protagonist wants to climb the east side of the K2, because it is the only route of an eight-thousander left that has not yet been climbed by man.

Man, this hit me personally. At the beginning of this year I started a webnovel. I spent the whole 1.5 months writing the first five of its chapters I was pushing the best I could create out of myself and it was taking A LOT of time, during this period I dedicated all my free time to the webnovel. And yet in so much time I only wrote 15K words. After spending 1.5 months of my life without getting any feedback at all, I just quit, feeling that I was just loosing my time with it. But after this video I see myself climbing the mountain, draining myself mentally for something others don't care about, improving every little detail I could. Why was I doing it? I just was submerged into the process. Now I'm wasting much time too, just on other things, like stupid youtube videos. Should have I really cared that nobody was reading it? Even if no, it's more pleasant to climb the mountain knowing other people admire what you are doing So we admire you climbing the mountain now, AhLecks.
