Though Sukant Rath is better known as an actor today, seldom have knowledge of his other talent - music. Born and brought up at the culturally rich land of Mayurbhanj district, Sukant Rath had started singing on stages from very early age. He bagged many awards in various singing competitions prior to his joining at BJB College in 1983 where his inclination towards acting grew. While he took up acting more seriously and won awards and accolades for it during college days, his pursuit for singing was still on. He got the opportunity to share stages at different places of Odisha with legendary singers such as Late Mohd. Sikander Alam, Tansen Singh & other reputed singers of the golden era. Sukant Rath landed in a daily job later which he finally left to pursue a career in acting instead. But his passion for singing and music still lives on today.
