One morning when I was a little girl, I watched my dad take my mom and twirled her on the kitchen floor while this song was playing on the radio. I came between them and hugged as hard as I could, not wanting to be left out. So we danced, all three of us, in the sunbeam of the morning. It was so perfect. Now, both of them are gone, but one day, I was with my six year old son and heard this song being played by some street performers while we were out shopping. I picked him up and and we started dancing to the music. He was confused at first but then started laughing, but some day, I know I will leave him too, and I hope he will have someone to dance with to this song and remember me as how I remembered my parents

Never thought i would shed a tear to such an upbeat energetic song. It's crazy how a change in key and tempo can totally change the atmosphere of a song. The original is so positive and energetic, yet, to me, this is so melancholic and made the song and lyrics seem more like a valediction. We'll all be gone in a day or two.

He isn't though. He didn't go to the E5 once in this entire performance. He's lost several notes on the top of his range. All these comments saying that his voice hasn't changed a bit and not one of you seems to realize that he changed up the last bit of the chorus to make it possible to sing. Dropped it an entire octave to sing it.

I loved the original as a kid growing up in the 80's. Now at age 44 listening to this version makes me reflect on everything that has gone in a blink of an eye especially when my 12 year old brother passed away. He loved this song and use to sing it during karaoke, well the original and now hearing this version... It's so beautiful and it breaks me completely. It's like coming full circle. It brings me peace and I feel my little brother near me when I hear this version comforting me telling me, " enjoy it while it lasts, sis. You'll be coming home soon too." Can't describe how beautiful and comforting that makes me feel but until that day I'll enjoy the moments I have left with my own children. Thank you so much for this extremely beautiful rendition. ❤

This song was bubbly, fresh, and naive back in the 80s; an idyllic time when life was carefree. The song is older now, and moves more slowly and deliberately. It has developed character and wisdom, but the cracks that come from heartbreak and disappointment are present too, and cast a bittersweet shadow. It is remarkable that a song that brought me pure joy as a teenager can evolve into one of more complex emotions, bring tears to my eyes and touch me more deeply than it ever did when I was young.

That's the thing with a lot of 80s pop music. You strip away the 80s flashiness and you discover that at the core these songs are often quite deep. Another example would be Billy Jeans my Micheal Jackson. Chris Cornell actually had a pretty good striped down version of Billy Jeans shortly before he died. How different it is with modern pop "music"; you strip away the flashiness and there is often nothing left.
