This was handled badly. Eli was in a lot if pain still but he could have been helped. He needed understanding, love and guidance to cross and be with his wife. He was not an evil spirit. Just really hurting. I hope the people who bought the house approached things differently with him.

It was very off to re sell that home without telling the new owners of what was going on! Yes I’m sure she was glad to just move on, but to let another couple go through the same thing is beyond selfish, what if the spirit pushes the wife down the stairs and she is pregnant and looses the baby..? I would see that death on my hands, I know she wanted her money back, but at what cost..? I think it should be law in every country that full disclosure of any death and the reasons behind it are given to the potential buyer!

Explaining empathetically to the one refusing to go that his loved one is waiting for them and they will be with them if they are willing to let go etc. Some go quickly and others take multiple conversations etc I've "managed" the dead for almost 44 years. Weirdly, there are times when you need to explain the right things to them and when possible even show them things that belonged to their loved ones. Bring their anger and sadness level down. Being terrfified just continues to feed into it. Well this is my short answer :)

Why did the paranormal investigators not know this themselves because they only ended up adding to Jennifer's anguish. And they didn't tell her anything she didn't know already . Such a frustrating ending, when it could have been very different with a happy outcome for all . Jennifer would have been the perfect new owner of the house as she found out it's history and had respect of it's past.

Had the same experience but nothing I could do about it and I remember my grandmother told me that everywhere and places have good or bad spirit. The best thing to do is always ask permission by saying excuse me I'm going upstairs or blah blah blah...so the spirit can get out of the way and we don't accidentally bump into them. And it's working we live peacefully and the maid stopped crying or wanting to resign from working with me in that 3 storeys rental penthouse. Ever since that, I'm not afraid anymore lucky that I remember my grandmother's great advice.

Vanessa Kelly people who’s spirits haven’t left a house simply need to be shown where their exit is to the next life. Some are reluctant to leave, have something that they haven’t let go of, or are confused about where to go. When you die, you likely don’t believe that your spirit will be a demon, you believe your spirit will go to heaven. Demons are from the pit of hell that might possess a person, but they are not the spirit of a person who has passed and lingered per se.

Everyone is born with a spirit (jinn) which follows us and mimics us througout our lives. These spirits live alot longer than us humans, so when we die, sometimes this spirit is unable to move on with the remainder of its existence and attaches itself to the decaesed persons house. They are not the decaesed persons soul. A dead persons soul has moved on to the otherside and has no connection with the living. The spirit (jinn) of his deceased wife moved on with its existence which is why her spirit is absent.

For someone whose not an American, these shows are quite interesting. 1. Huge houses: most of the houses featured are large in size, have multiple rooms and have sprawling gardens and/or backyards. That's quite amazing for folks who've lived most of their lives in dinky apartments! 2. Not enough lighting: why don't people keep the lights on? 3. Religion: i don't see any pictures of religious figures or objects (a cross, for example) 4. Family: the sets don't have any pictures of family and/or pets. There seems to be a lack of emotion or warmth, at least that's how i perceive it 5. Cleansing: certain religions have a practice of space cleansing or blessing, which is done prior to moving into a new home/ apartment. It's really energy-based, you clear out old/stagnant energies and bring in positive ones. I think it's worth following this practice! Loved the episode and felt the acting was pretty good! Only sad part was that the spirit of the old man wasn't encouraged to go into the light or the next dimension where his soul could finally be at peace. Other paranormal programs have shown this step.

Yeah, it is not necessary to have pictures of family or pets. Don't worry, plenty of people in America live in dinky apartments, too. Worse, still, many live in trailers and on the streets. Especially people of colour because it is not a great egalitarian society. Race matters. Also, most people in America cannot afford homes these days especially with jobs shown in the show. That home is definitely too big. In 1950's it was possible, not in 2008. They definitely would have to take out large amounts of credit. The biggest horror would be that these homeowners would have lost their homes in the 2008 crash. However, America will keep clawing to hang on to the image of bygone days and continue claiming it is the greatest country on earth when the system is quite broken in reality. anyway, I am pretty sure that in shows in your region of the world, too, wherever that is, they show large houses as a matter of course which not the reality for 99% of the country. Same thing. The lights are kept dimmed for the show. People don't actually keep the lights off like that. Also, all these rituals you talk about exist in almost all religions. However, they are merely for peace of mind. To me, this episode seems like a coworker trying to scare her off to drive the property price down so he could move in. The basement could have had a secret opening and people could have snuck in through there to scare her. It seems weird that she keeps smelling aftershave and the coworker chooses to mention that of all things. Nah. If there are cases of spirit hauntings, this ain't it.

I've grown up with hauntings. The real thing. I love "A Haunting" because it helps me feel like my life wasn't a totall freak show. Working in the movie industry, I have to say, this episode was the THE BEST directed and photographed episode of this show that I've EVER seen! This episode was so fantastically photographed that I say it has reached the level of "CINEMA". Sorry for the people that lived through it. I did, too. But, just had to say, this episode of "A Haunting" is the BEST i've ever seen!

Jennifer needs to fight for her house. Even explaining that they are gone & she is the new rightful owner. If he can't accept that then he needs to be evicted spiritually. Many hauntings are a battle of wills & who can outlast the other for possession of a property. Don't try contact by yourself to an entity unless you are spiritually experienced in the paranormal, instead find a third party of investigators or spiritual mediums to attempt an negotiation or mediation. Personally speaking unless the spirits are willing to be content & quiet then they must be forced out.

I stayed at my vp house in public school. She lived in this beautiful old house. It was huge. But at night it was super creepy. And she had the same issues with flies. Hundreds of them. I think her house was haunted but I didn't say anything about it. It was still a beautiful house..

I red some good solutions to invite the spirit in the light to be with his wife. There are so many ways to consulate a soul, with compassion. Pray for him and her wife, bring flowers to her tombstone, leave flowers to her picture. We're always scared because of the spitits's feelings but these are residual and human, just like ours. Something to say to a man who was such in love with his wife, dead secluded in the feeling of injustice, that then became fury? We need more compassion, less ego.

Seems like she tried to befriend him when she greeted him when she enteted. After watching other shows I've seen people trying to befriend entities. Very rarely works if they're violent. If it gets physical and the entity is dark then it's impossible. But Probably successful with a good medium.

Why don't they act things out the way they really happened? I'm sure that guy at the party was normal and just walked away. Why do they need to make it seem like he just vanished like Batman. Also, having every episode be dark is too unrealistic. People turn on lights when the sun goes down! These reenactments would be better if they didn't try to make it into a horror movie.
